New details have emerged about the relationship between missing Michigan woman Lynette Hooker and her husband as authorities continue investigating her disappearance in the Bahamas, as reported by the New York Post.

Hooker, 55, was reported missing Saturday after her husband, Brian Hooker, told authorities she fell overboard from a dinghy while the couple was returning to their yacht, Soulmate, off the coast of the Bahamas.

According to Brian Hooker, she had the boat key with her when she went into the water, which caused the engine to shut off and forced him to paddle back to the marina.

In the days following the incident, records surfaced detailing a domestic dispute between the couple in 2015 at their home in Kentwood, Michigan.

According to an arrest report cited by NBC News, police responded to a call involving a physical altercation between the two.

Officers arriving at the scene reported that Brian Hooker appeared intoxicated and had blood coming from his nose. In his account to the police, he alleged that his wife had punched him multiple times during the incident.

“He stated he had never been hit like that in a long time. He started to cry and became emotional,” the report stated.

Lynette Hooker provided a different account, telling officers that her husband had struck her in the forehead and then choked and punched her once during the confrontation.

The report indicated that Lynette did not appear to have visible injuries at the time.

According to the police report, the altercation began when Lynette attempted to enter a bedroom where her children were present. Brian Hooker told officers he was attempting to calm the situation.

Lynette Hooker was arrested on charges of assault and battery/simple assault, and spent the night in jail.

However, the case did not proceed, as a warrant was later denied due to “insufficient evidence as to who started the assault,” according to the report.

The past incident has drawn renewed attention following Brian Hooker’s arrest on Wednesday in connection with his wife’s disappearance. Authorities have not publicly detailed the specific charges related to his arrest.

Concerns about the circumstances surrounding Lynette Hooker’s disappearance were also raised by her daughter, Karli Aylesworth.

“I do believe something might have happened to her,” Aylesworth told Fox News.

“There’s history of him choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there’s more to the story.”

Brian Hooker’s attorney said his client is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.

“He has been cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing investigation,” the attorney said.
