Molly Ringwald Says Her ‘Worst’ Acting Job Was Marred by One ‘Really Difficult’ Person [WATCH]

Molly Ringwald did not hesitate when asked to identify the least enjoyable acting job from her career. The actress placed “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” at the very bottom of her personal ranking because of one unnamed person she described as difficult, as reported by Page Six.

Ringwald discussed her previous projects while appearing on Tuesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” During the segment, she was asked to place her favorite experience in the tenth spot and her least favorite in the first.

When the 2008 drama series came up, Ringwald first made sure she understood the ranking system. “The worst is one?” she asked before settling on her answer.

The actress then placed “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” in the lowest possible position. Confirming the choice, Ringwald said, “That was it. The worst.”

However, Ringwald made clear that her negative assessment was not directed at the entire production or its cast. “It was a hard, I mean… OK, I love the cast. I love Shailene Woodley,” the 58-year-old actress explained.

Instead, Ringwald attributed the poor experience to a single person involved with the program. She did not reveal that individual’s identity or clarify the person’s exact role in the production.

“There was one person that was really difficult. And I’m not gonna say who that one person is [but] they brought it down to a one,” Ringwald revealed during the discussion with Cohen.

The actress also did not say whether the person was another actor or someone working as part of the crew. Her comments therefore left the identity of the difficult coworker completely undisclosed.

Ringwald had a substantial presence on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” appearing in 96 episodes. The coming-of-age show ran for five seasons between 2008 and 2013.

The “Breakfast Club” star portrayed Anne Juergens, the mother of the show’s lead character, Amy Juergens. Woodley played Amy, who became unexpectedly pregnant when she was 15 years old.

The ABC Family series followed Amy as she dealt with complicated relationships involving her friends and family during her teen pregnancy. Ringwald’s character was part of the family at the center of that story.

The program also featured Mark Derwin, Ken Baumann, Daren Kagasoff, India Eisley, Francia Raisa, Greg Finley and Steve Schirripa. Despite Ringwald’s affection for the cast, the unnamed person was enough to send the entire experience to the bottom of her list.

Her feelings about “Pretty in Pink” could hardly have been more different. The Golden Globe nominee ranked the 1986 film in the highest possible spot when Cohen asked about her experience making the popular romantic comedy.

“That was pretty great… I’ll give that a 10,” Ringwald replied. That score placed the movie at the opposite end of her ranking from “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Ringwald also explained that “Pretty in Pink” marked her third film working with screenwriter John Hughes. Her connection to the project was especially meaningful because Hughes created the movie specifically with her in mind.

“It was written for me. He wrote the movie for me,” Ringwald said while recalling the film. Her fond memories gave “Pretty in Pink” the top score, while the difficult experience involving one unnamed person pushed the television drama down to a one.
