Mothers Aren’t Just Embracing Lindsay Clancy’; They Are Embracing Clancyism

I think that most people who read Hot Air are appalled by the subset of the population that has embraced Lindsay Clancy as a cultural hero. 

For most of us, the fact that Clancy clearly was having trouble with her mental health may help explain how she decided to kill her children, but for nobody I know does that excuse the fact that she chose to respond to her despair by killing her own children. 

I can understand, at some level, the feeling of empathy for Clancy’s struggles; I cannot and will never understand turning her into a hero. There is nothing heroic about killing children, especially one’s own. It ranks up there as the most, or at least one of the most, horrific betrayals a person can make. 

Women have contributed over a million dollars to Clancy’s parents to help fund her defense, lined roadways to cheer her on, and even concocted bizarre conspiracy theories to explain why everything is her husband’s fault, despite Clancy never having denied strangling her own children. 

It’s demonic.

However disturbing you find this trend, prepare to be even more shocked: there is a part of Lindsay’s fan club who are acting out their own fantasies of killing their children, all for the benefit of their TikTok followers. If Clancy’s fans can be said to be acting out suicidal empathy, this group of women is embracing Clancyism.

We already have had our first copycat killer, but in a way you can dismiss that as an unfortunately normal event that follows any high-profile murder case. It’s not something to shrug at, but it’s not, in itself, evidence of a widespread social contagion sweeping the nation. 

The problem is, there IS a social contagion sweeping the nation, revealing a significant underlying problem with a certain subset of our population — liberal women, who are simultaneously the most mentally ill proportion.

This woman is very likely going to do something harmful to her child. Her husband needs to RUN with this child and get custody

There are women acting out the murder of their children on camera for clicks and likes, and rather than their followers being repulsed enough to object and report these women to CPS, they are providing those clicks and likes. 

They don’t just think about murdering their kids all the time, they also joke about it for engagement. Ticktok is turning countless mothers into monsters.

One would be tempted to assume that the proportion of the population that buys into this sick form of fantasy and entertainment is small and too easy to amplify, but for the fact that Clancy, a murderer, avoided acquittal by a jury of her peers because of the one man who held out against enormous social pressure. 

Jurors showed up for deliberations wearing pink, a color that Clancy’s supporters adopted as a symbol of support for this child murderer.

In no world would there be an outcry of support for any father who strangled his children, and of course there shouldn’t be. That’s not any form of equality I am interested in; thank you very much. It doesn’t matter how angry or depressed a parent is; there is no justification for strangling your children. It wasn’t even in a fit of rage; it was premeditated murder.

A jury of 12 men would vote for conviction and the death penalty for any father who killed his children, and no doubt would have convicted Clancy as well. Yet a jury of nine women and three men almost let Clancy off the hook for the same crime, and a trend supporting Clancy and even pretending to emulate her was born.

There appears to be a large group of women who are, to put it bluntly, insane and driven by a hatred for everything, including their families. They feel like they are victims of circumstance, and have indulged in fantasies of getting revenge on everyone and everything because they are unhappy with their own life choices.

This poor child will likely suffer from a fear of abandonment as a result of her actions.

Remember, kids: if you don’t want to talk or play, you can just let your son play on the phone while you’re driving!

At some level, we need to understand what is going on; on another, we have to quit trying to soothe them and start locking them up as a danger to themselves and others.

Not a single one of these women should be anywhere near a child. It really doesn’t matter how sad or despairing they are or what reasons they think they have for feeling rage. We don’t need to know the excuses until they are behind bars or placed in mental institutions.

Before anybody starts bleating about how we need to understand and empathize with how difficult life is for these women, let me remind you of this: none of these women is displaying an ounce of empathy for the children who looked into their mother’s eyes as she strangled them. 

You can’t appeal to empathy when you have none for the children.
