MPD Quietly Terminates Officials Over Crime Stat Manipulation: REPORT

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) terminated several officials Monday for fudging crime statistics, according to multiple reports.

At least three MPD officials were issued termination papers by internal affairs Monday after being investigated over accusations of manipulating crime statistics, according to NBC News4. These officials include 2nd District Cmdr. Tatjana Savoy and Cmdr. Michael Pulliam, who denied the allegations, and the latter of whom was previously placed on leave with pay.

The shakeup comes after two federal reports from 2025 questioned the accuracy of D.C.’s crime data under Smith’s leadership, alleging that the MPD downgraded hundreds of crimes to show a decrease in the crime rate. One December report called MPD’s data “likely unreliable and inaccurate due to misclassifications,” claiming that “violent crime is not being accurately documented and reported to the public.”

The Daily Caller revealed last October in an exclusive report — according to sources close to law enforcement — that the MPD and the D.C. government routinely allowed suspects to “wiggle out of … more serious charges,” starting with arrests at the scene of the crime all the way to the courtroom. More officials were also reportedly told on Monday that they would be fired or disciplined.

The House Oversight Committee report, titled “How D.C.’s Police Chief Undermined Crime Data Accuracy,” accused now former D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith by name for failing to adequately address crime in the nation’s capital. The DOJ report also criticized Smith’s leadership, alleging she pressured law enforcement to manipulate crime statistics through a “culture of coercive fear that emanates from Pamela Smith.” (RELATED: FBI Director Brags About DC Crime Drop Using Same Police Data Trump Called ‘Fake’)

Smith later resigned in December, shortly after the reports were made public.
