Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene rejected repeated on-air suggestions from the hosts of The View that she should become a Democrat, making clear that her priorities remain unchanged even after her departure from Congress, as reported by Fox News.

Greene appeared on the ABC program on Wednesday, two days after her final day in Congress on Monday.

During the discussion, the former Republican lawmaker addressed economic issues, government spending, and immigration, while fielding questions about her political future.

“So maybe now you should become a Democrat!” co-host Joy Behar told Greene after she spoke about affordability concerns affecting Americans.

Greene pushed back, criticizing both major parties while rejecting Democratic policy positions, particularly on immigration and federal spending.

“It’s Democrats and Republicans together that have put us in nearly $40 trillion in debt. I don’t support a border invasion,” Greene said.

“People like Laken Riley were murdered because our border was invaded. I don’t support those policies.”

Greene’s comments come amid her public disagreements with President Donald Trump, despite previously being one of his strongest allies.

While she has broken with the president on several issues in recent months, Greene made clear she is not aligned with Democratic priorities.

Co-host Sunny Hostin asked whether Greene planned to become an independent or remain in the Republican Party.

“I haven’t said if I’m leaving the Republican Party, but my focus is America first,” Greene responded.

Hostin pressed her further, telling Greene, “You could make a statement here.”

The discussion then turned to federal spending and deficits. Behar questioned Greene on debt levels, asserting that Democratic administrations historically leave office with budget surpluses.

“Tell me if I’m wrong about this, because I’m just a person who watches the news. I’m not a pundit. I’m not anything,” Behar said.

“Every time a Democratic president leaves office, we’re in a surplus. And then, when a Republican leaves, we’re in a deficit.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back, noting that had not been true since former President Bill Clinton left office. Greene followed up, stating flatly, “That is absolutely false.”

“Joe Biden left office, and we were $33 trillion in debt,” Greene said.

“The Democrats controlled Congress under Nancy Pelosi, spent trillions and trillions of dollars, and now it’s gone up even more. I’ve said both parties. I’m the one saying both parties. You’re the one defending the Democrat Party.”

Behar acknowledged Greene’s point, replying that she was defending Democrats, before adding, “One is worse than the other, let’s put it that way.”

Co-host Sara Haines later asked Greene if she would ever consider becoming an independent, adding that she believed every politician should have to earn votes.

“I agree with you,” Greene responded.

Greene has appeared on The View multiple times, including an interview in December amid her public back-and-forth with President Trump.

During her first appearance on the show, Hostin thanked Greene for maintaining a civil tone and not engaging in on-air confrontations with the panel.
