Newsom Betting on Biden’s Coalition

Newsom Betting on Biden’s Coalition

Gavin Newsom is, perhaps, the ultimate example of what I call the “Organized Crime” Democrats, who are currently losing—badly—a war against the Bolshevik/Islamist Democrats.

And, as slippery and glib as Newsom is, there is a 0% chance that he can win over the Bolsheviks or the Islamists in the Red/Green alliance that is ascendant, and I doubt he will even try. Primary candidates run in “lanes,” hoping to lock down an important faction within their political party, and Newsom can’t match AOC’s appeal with the radicals, no matter how left he is, so he is doubling down on the fake “moderates” and big money faction.

Icymi in Axios 2028:

Newsom is betting on embracing Biden ahead of 2028.

As other 2028ers distance themselves, Newsom has stood out as a vocal Biden defender.

Axios has an interesting story about one part of Newsom’s strategy that I hadn’t thought of: unlike most Democrats, he is not distancing himself from Biden. In an odd way, it makes sense because Newsom is, if anything, much better at being corrupt than Biden ever was, and the coalition that put Biden into power is still out there, even if they are kind of homeless and jaded after Biden’s collapse.

Why it matters: The California governor — unlike most potential Democratic candidates for president — has spent the last 18 months courting Biden and his family, publicly defending the ex-president’s legacy as others have distanced themselves.

  • A Biden endorsement could be consequential. Many Democratic primary voters — especially Black and Latino voters — still have much affection for him, despite his unpopularity with the broader electorate.

Driving the news: Newsom has been an unapologetic defender of Biden’s legacy and his family, citing his ability to pass big legislation with bipartisan support as well as his character — particularly in contrast to what Newsom calls Donald Trump’s “childishness.”

  • “I’ll never turn my back on Joe Biden,” Newsom told a South Carolina crowd earlier this year.
  • “One of the most successful presidents in the last century,” Newsom told ABC News last fall in describing Biden, even as he acknowledged having differences with Biden’s immigration policy, a liability for Democrats in 2024.
  • Overall, the Biden administration was a “masterclass of policymaking,” he told Axios in March.
  • “I’m blessed to have gotten to know him, to defend him and defend his character, and continue to defend his record,” he added.

Last week, Newsom hosted Hunter Biden on his podcast. The former president’s son repeatedly alluded to Newsom becoming the next president.

  • Paraphrasing one of his father’s old lines, Hunter told Newsom: “I’ll come campaign for you or against you, whatever helps most.”

As bizarre as it is, Hunter is actually having something of a renaissance, to the point where I suspect he is either going to run for office from a really safe seat or position himself to become a political force in the Democratic Party. It’s not as strange as it seems; Democrats are embracing degenerates with a passion almost as strong as Scott Weiner’s for young men in leather or James Talarico’s for demons.

EXCLUSIVE: Our team has scoured public records and discovered that Gavin Newsom has close connections with at least ten people who have been investigated, indicted, or convicted of fraud and corruption.

Newsom is unapologetically corrupt, spreading taxpayer dollars to his allies and clients with the tenacity of Biden EPA officials throwing “gold bars” out the window before Trump was inaugurated. His high-speed rail project is worse than the totally corrupt gift to Stacey Abrams’ one-second-old nonprofit, which looks like peanuts in comparison.

Newsom is as unabashed as Biden when it comes to lying, and he is far slicker and more savvy than the less-than-midwit Biden.

And, like Biden, everything he touches turns to excrement. Which, to Democrats, is no barrier to roaring electoral success. He doesn’t solve problems; he monetizes them. His ten-year “plan” to eliminate homelessness is two decades old, and the only result has been stuffing the pockets of his political clients and friends.

His wife runs a very profitable nonprofit, which has funded a lifestyle of the rich and famous for both her and Newsom.

Newsom is widely seen as a leading figure in the race for the nomination, and indeed he is, but he is increasingly out of step with the Democratic Party’s actual voting base in primaries. He could easily be competitive in a general election, given the Democrats’ firm belief that accomplishments mean nothing, while saying the right words is everything. They want a compelling narrative, not real solutions.

But average Democrats no longer choose who will represent the Party in elections, as last night’s results show and as many primary elections this year will demonstrate. Primary voters want a revolution, not a piece of the corrupt pie. They don’t want to harvest the golden eggs; they want to kill the goose, start raising goats for love fests, and kill Jews.

Newsom needs the backing of the money people and the establishment—the ones who stole the 2016 nomination from Sanders, who picked Biden in 2020 over the clear wishes of the voting base, and who selected Kamala Harris without a competition.

The thing is, the money people are sick and tired of Democrats right now. Republicans and their allied groups have more than three times as much cash on hand for the 2026 elections as Democrats. It’s possible the establishment could pull a rabbit out of the hat and steal the nomination from a Bolshevik, but the defeat of Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, the real losers in recent primaries, shows that their power is waning.

The Bolsheviks’ biggest obstacle to seizing the Democratic presidential nomination is that, with the exception of Mamdani, their actual candidates are not even midwits. They are radicals, but not particularly bright. And Mamdani can’t run.

The Obama folks seem to be grooming AOC, but if she were smart, which she isn’t, she would take out Schumer instead of running for president. She is too stupid to win.

Newsom? He has picked a lane, and that lane won’t appeal to the DSA.
