Chevron had been based in California for almost a century and a half, enduring an increasingly hostile business environment until it could no longer do so.

California has a terrible business environment, especially for industrial companies that were once the backbone of the California economy. And no industry has been more persecuted than petrochemicals, and the results can be seen everywhere, especially at the gas pump.

This is unconscionable.

The Governor of CA, an elected official meant to serve the constituents of this state, both individuals and their companies, is urging us to AVOID a company here. Incredibly unethical and disqualifying.

No doubt a spiteful response to @Chevron informing the CA citizens that the reason our gas is always outrageously expensive is because of the CA gas tax. That is a FACT cause by the CA Gov.

I will be intentionally buying gas at Chevron this week in LA.

Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron.

Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean, even if it doesn’t have a fancy name like ‘Techron.’

Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.

Refineries have been shutting down, and a once-vigorous oil industry has been fleeing the state in search of greener pastures. Gas taxes and regulations ensure that California has the highest gas prices in the continental United States, yet politicians scream mightily about price gouging and greedy oil executives.

The case against Gavin in one tweet.

He’s attacking Chevron saying “they’re driving up prices.” In reality, Gavin’s policies have made gas up to $3/gallon more than neighboring states.

In one CA town you can drive 4 minutes across the AZ border and pay $3/gallon less. https://t.co/wXLVb8f1NT

Chevron has every reason to be pissed off and took a minor stand by informing customers at the pump about the real reason why gas prices are so high in their state. They don’t name Newsom in particular, but he took quite the offense when Chevron decided to point the finger of blame where it belongs: politicians.

Newsom’s call to boycott Chevron for telling the truth is classic Democratic politics combined with Newsom’s particular sleaziness. Rather than disputing the charge, he decided to punish the speaker. Not only did he prove exactly why doing business in California is a loser, but he did so by spreading grotesque disinformation about the difference in quality between the best quality gasoline and gas that meets the minimum requirements set by California regulations.

While it is true that buying higher-octane gas for cars that don’t need it is a waste of money because only cars with higher compression ratios need gasoline with higher octanes to function properly, higher quality gas makes a serious difference to the life and performance of the engine by preventing buildup of combustion products.

Of course, Chevron is not the only brand that provides Top Tier gas. I buy at Costco, for instance, and it fits the bill. But when I am on the road and need to fill up, I always choose a major brand to refill my tank because I want my car to last as long as possible.

Newsom doesn’t want your car to last. He wants you to drive an EV or take his high-speed rail. Oh, oops. Maybe a dangerous bus instead.

Newsom slams Chevron because they told the truth. A self-evident truth, but one that may not be spoken, because no politician will take responsibility.

It’s ironic, because Democrats at times have even admitted they want high gas prices to drive down consumption to save the planet, but whenever it becomes an issue they point their fingers at greedy corporations, never telling us why they suddenly got greedy, but weren’t when prices were lower.

I’ve said it before and will say it again: Newsom is as oily as the La Brea Tar Pits, and what comes out of his mouth smells as foul as they do.
