Nick Shirley and Trace Gallagher criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom during a discussion focused on alleged fraud and the state’s response to those exposing it.
Shirley said, “Yes, the governor of California is an enemy to the people of California.”
He added, “He’s literally working to support the fraudsters.”

Shirley argued that state leadership should instead prioritize uncovering wrongdoing, stating, “Meanwhile, he could be working to expose the fraud.”
He questioned the approach taken by Newsom, saying, “I mean, how stupid you have to be to say, Okay, let’s go after the guy who’s exposing the fraud.”
He continued, “Let’s not go after the fraudsters.”
Shirley described what he believes is a consistent pattern, saying, “That is what he’s doing.”

He added, “What he’s actively doing each and every single day when he makes out these statements.” He further stated, “All he does is blame the people who are showing the fraud.”
He then pointed to what he sees as a missed opportunity for collaboration, saying, “Why doesn’t he say, Hey, Nick.”
He added, “Great video, how can we help?” He concluded, “Right?”
Gallagher responded by outlining what he described as a more constructive reaction.
He said, “That’s what I would say was, Wow.”
He added, “Great video, how to how did you find this?” He continued, “Where did you go?” He then said, “And where are you going next?”
He added, “So we can find somebody to go with you.” He concluded, “Don’t you think that would be a common response?”
Shirley agreed with that approach and shifted the focus to taxpayer impact.
