An American Airlines flight turned into a nightmare for passengers on Thursday when an engine fire forced an emergency evacuation at Denver International Airport.
As Fox News reported, Flight 1006, which had departed from Colorado Springs and was en route to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, had to divert to Denver due to a mechanical issue.
After safely landing in Denver, the aircraft was taxiing to the gate when an engine-related fire broke out around 6 p.m. local time. Passengers, visibly shaken, were forced to evacuate, with some even climbing out onto the wing to escape the smoke-filled cabin.

A dramatic scene unfolded as responders rushed to contain the blaze.
American Airlines confirmed the incident, stating that:
“The 172 customers and six crew members deplaned and are being relocated to the terminal.We thank our crew members, DEN team and first responders for their quick and decisive action with the safety of everyone on board and on the ground as the priority.”
The airline went on to thank its crew, the Denver airport staff, and first responders for their swift actions to ensure everyone’s safety.

A spokesperson for Denver International Airport reported that the fire occurred at Gate C38. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, smoke was clearly visible, prompting immediate evacuation procedures.

Passengers onboard recounted the chaos, with some forced onto the wing as flames and smoke billowed from the aircraft.
