Pew: Public Feeling Pretty Good About Trump Right Now

Not everybody shares the feeling of relief or elation that is sweeping the nation, but liking that Trump won the election is a very mainstream opinion now.

Yet another poll shows that the public approves of the Trump transition, and many people are downright giddy.

Americans warming to Trump; Pew survey says voters shifting to GOP, away from Democrats https://t.co/wfFf6jWFWG

Earlier this week, I wrote about a YouGov poll showing that Americans, on balance, approve of Trump’s transition, and now Pew Research is confirming that this is true.

Americans are warmer to President-elect Donald Trump now than they were in 2016 and 2020, according to a new poll that found they believe he’ll steer the economy correctly as he takes office.

The Pew Research Center polled nearly 10,000 people after the election and said most expect him to make good decisions about the economy, crime issues, immigration and foreign policy, though they’re less enthused about his ability to unify the country.

Some 43% said they have a warm feeling toward Mr. Trump, which while less than a majority is still better than 2016, when 36% felt that way toward him, and 2020, when that was just 34%.

When asked how they felt about his victory, 22% said excited and 28% said relieved. Both are up from 2016. Those saying they were angry held steady at 15%, but those disappointed dropped from 41% last time to 33% this time.

After his 2016 victory, 73% of Americans said it surprised them. This time just 32% were caught off guard.

Overall, Americans approve of Mr. Trump’s plans for his second term by 53%.

And Mr. Trump is leading a political resurgence for Republicans, with 50% of the country saying the GOP represents their interests. Just 43% say the Democratic Party represents them.

Fifty percent of Americans are either excited or relieved, while only 15% are angry about it.

Hey, Democrats, take note. Maybe that is why there has been such a decline in identification with the Democratic Party. When all the top Democrats keep expressing anger, and only 15% of Americans are with you, it may be time to recalibrate.

But CAN Democrats recalibrate? The entire agenda of the Party can be summed up as a neopagan, hate-driven, anti-Western alphabet cult that defines “democracy” as worshipping queer ideology. Throw in open borders, economic collapse, deindustrialization, and empowering a transnational elite with a totalitarian fetish, and there you go: Democrats!

How do you change directions when that is your ideological core?

Trump needs to strike hard, strike fast, rip the mask off, expose the corruption, and bulldoze the Democrats now. Strike while the iron is hot because the public is in a good mood, is relieved that Democrats are disempowered, and isn’t distracted yet. Democrats are in disarray and will soon be deep in a civil war, and the administrative state is in panic.

In 2017, Trump was unprepared; the administrative state was angry but not panicked, and they collaborated to take Trump down. It will be harder this time because Trump is prepared, has much better people around him, and many of the top bureaucrats are bailing and lawyering up.

Musk and Vivek will be key to this, not because they will be in key government spots–they will be outside the government looking from above–but because they come from the “move fast and break things” school of management instead of the institutionalists you normally find in government.

Trump is popular. Use the political capital now or it will evaporate. Invest it well, and you will get returns that allow for even more progress later.
