Police rushed to the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett in Washington after a frightening gunfire scare that turned out to be a swatting hoax.
The troubling incident marked yet another attempt to intimidate a conservative member of the nation’s highest court, adding to a growing list of threats against justices appointed by Republican presidents.
Independent reporter Andrew Leyden broke the news Wednesday evening after the Metropolitan Police Department received reports of possible gunshots near Barrett’s address.
Leyden initially withheld the name of the targeted justice, but later confirmed it was Barrett.

Thankfully, law enforcement quickly determined the call was fake, identifying it as a swatting attempt.
Police dispatch audio obtained by Leyden revealed that the address was flagged as a “location of interest” with an established security presence.
Officers recognized the potential sensitivity of the situation and coordinated with Barrett’s security team to verify that there was no genuine emergency.
The response was handled carefully, according to reports, because the MPD was aware that a high-profile official lived at the residence.

WATCH:
Swatting, a dangerous prank that has spread in the last two decades, involves calling emergency services to falsely report serious crimes or violent situations, prompting an aggressive police response.
The Department of Homeland Security has warned that such hoaxes can create chaos, draw massive law enforcement resources, and even result in injury or death when officers respond to what they believe is a real threat.
Although this incident fortunately ended without harm, the fact that such a tactic is being used against Supreme Court justices is deeply alarming.
Barrett, a mother of seven and one of the most principled voices on the Court, has endured more than her share of hostility from the political Left since her appointment.
Progressives have never forgiven her for replacing the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and their rage has not cooled in the years since.
This swatting attempt is not an isolated act of harassment. Only last year, Barrett’s sister in South Carolina received a bomb threat through email.
Local authorities confirmed that the message warned of an explosive device in a mailbox at the home of Amanda Coney Williams.
Police later determined there was no device, but the incident highlighted the steady rise of targeted threats against conservative public figures.
So far there is no evidence linking the South Carolina bomb threat to the latest swatting call, but the pattern is unmistakable.
Individuals on the political Right are constantly harassed or targeted, while the same media that obsesses over “threats to democracy” offers only faint concern when a conservative faces danger.
When the victims are justices appointed by President Trump, coverage tends to evaporate.
Lest anyone forget, this is hardly the first time a Supreme Court justice has had their life endangered because of the feverish hatred of the far Left.
In 2022, a California man named Nicholas Roske traveled cross-country armed with a pistol, a crowbar, ammunition, and zip ties, intending to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his Maryland home.
He was intercepted by U.S. Marshals before carrying out his plan and later received an eight-year prison sentence.
These threats are not random acts of madness; they arise from a political environment in which left-wing commentators routinely demonize justices who do not bend to their agenda.
The same crowd that cries about “democracy dying” outside the Supreme Court has normalized hostility toward conservative jurists.
When opinion leaders dehumanize those who disagree with them, someone always takes it too far.
Barrett’s home is protected around the clock by federal security, but that does not erase the concern for her safety or that of her family.
Swatting calls are unpredictable, and one wrong move in such high-tension moments could yield disaster.
The fact that this happens to a sitting Supreme Court Justice should alarm every American who values law and order.
It should also prompt reflection on where the real threats to institutions are coming from.
The Left loves to frame conservatives as “dangerous extremists,” but the pattern says otherwise.
Whether it is intimidation at the homes of justices, firebombed pro-life centers, or physical assaults on conservative speakers, the violence is coming from the very people claiming moral superiority.
Thankfully, Justice Barrett and her family are safe tonight.
But until the culture of harassment against conservatives is confronted honestly and without political spin, these incidents will continue.
The media may try to downplay it, but conservative Americans see exactly what is happening.
The hostility from the Left is no accident, and it is past time for leaders in Washington to take it seriously.
