A Charlotte woman is facing multiple charges after two separate incidents involving a vehicle and alleged assaults, including one that injured a police officer and another involving an ex-boyfriend, according to arrest records.

Tanaezah Austin, 25, was first arrested following an incident on March 1 in west Charlotte.

Authorities say Austin was present at a street takeover in the parking lot of a Harris Teeter, where drivers were reportedly performing donuts.

The activity drew a response from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, who arrived to disperse the gathering.

According to an affidavit, Austin attempted to leave the scene when officers approached.

An officer moved toward the driver’s side of the vehicle, but Austin allegedly accelerated, striking the officer.

Investigators said the impact caused the officer to roll over the hood of the car as the vehicle sped away.

The officer was transported to a hospital following the incident.

Details about the extent of the officer’s injuries were not released in the records.

Following the March 1 incident, Austin was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon against an officer. She was later released on bond.

More than a month later, Austin was arrested again in connection with a separate incident that occurred on April 2.

According to arrest records, she is accused of running over her ex-boyfriend’s foot with a vehicle.

In that case, Austin was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

Authorities did not release additional details about the circumstances surrounding the second incident or the condition of the alleged victim.

The two arrests have drawn attention due to the timing and nature of the alleged offenses, both involving the use of a vehicle in incidents that led to assault charges.

Street takeovers, like the one described in the March 1 incident, have been a recurring issue in several cities, including Charlotte.

These gatherings often involve groups of drivers blocking off intersections or parking lots to perform stunts, drawing crowds and prompting law enforcement responses.

Police have said such events can pose risks to both participants and bystanders, particularly when vehicles are driven erratically or at high speeds in confined spaces.

In the March incident, officers were attempting to break up the activity when the confrontation involving Austin’s vehicle occurred.

Investigators said the officer was struck as he approached the vehicle in an effort to engage with the driver.

Austin’s release on bond after the initial charge allowed her to remain out of custody until her subsequent arrest in April.

The second set of charges stems from what authorities described as a domestic-related incident involving her ex-boyfriend.

Court records indicate that both cases remain pending.

Austin is expected to face legal proceedings related to each set of charges, including the felony allegation connected to the March 1 incident and the misdemeanor charges from April 2.

Officials have not indicated whether the two cases will be handled separately or if any additional charges could be filed as investigations continue.

The incidents remain under review as the judicial process moves forward in Mecklenburg County.
