U.S. Secret Service agents discovered a “suspicious object” along President Donald Trump’s motorcade route Sunday while the President was traveling from Mar-a-Lago to Palm Beach International Airport, prompting an immediate change to the route and a federal investigation, according to the White House, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
The incident occurred as President Donald Trump was en route from his Palm Beach residence to Palm Beach International Airport.
The discovery was made during advance security sweeps conducted by the U.S. Secret Service, officials said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the discovery in a statement released Sunday evening.
“During advance sweeps of PBI airport, a suspicious object was discovered by the U.S. Secret Service,” Leavitt said. “A further investigation was warranted, and the presidential motorcade route was adjusted accordingly.”
According to the White House press pool, the motorcade took a “circular route around town,” and drivers were instructed to “keep it tight” as the President was transported to the airport.

The New York Post’s Emily Goodwin reported that the aircraft’s departure was expedited following the reroute.
“Take off – at 6:48 pm – was fast and steep. A Secret Service agent was on the plane’s phone during takeoff,” Goodwin reported.
No injuries were reported, and officials did not immediately disclose the nature of the suspicious object or whether it posed an active threat.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details had not been released as of Sunday night.

President Trump has faced multiple assassination attempts over the past two years, placing heightened scrutiny on his security arrangements.
In September 2024, a man was discovered at Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach positioned in what authorities described as a sniper’s nest, allegedly armed with a rifle aimed toward the President.
The suspect in that case, Ryan Routh, was later convicted by a federal jury in September 2025 on five counts, including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer, and multiple firearms-related offenses.
Earlier, on July 13, 2024, another assassination attempt occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots from a nearby rooftop, striking then-candidate Trump in the ear. One rally attendee was killed in the attack, and two others were wounded.
Crooks was shot and killed at the scene by a Secret Service sniper. Trump was rushed to a hospital following the shooting and later resumed campaign activities.
Sunday’s incident underscores the continuing security concerns surrounding the President’s travel, particularly in Florida, where Trump maintains his primary residence at Mar-a-Lago.
The Secret Service has increased advanced security operations and route planning following the previous attempts.
Despite the disruption, the White House confirmed that President Trump safely departed Florida and returned to Washington, D.C., later Sunday evening without further incident.
Federal authorities have not said whether the suspicious object was explosive-related or if any suspects have been identified.
Officials emphasized that rerouting the motorcade was a precautionary measure taken in line with standard protective protocols.
The U.S. Secret Service did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment. The White House said it would provide updates if new information becomes available.
