Texas Opie Leading Both Cornyn and Paxton

Hey. I don’t wanna you-know-what in anybody’s Cheerios, but someone needs to start taking a look at Texas Opie, as unappetizing as that sounds.

James Talarico, the wee weird, fauxny preacherman, is creeping his way up the polls into what’s known as ‘contention.’

Talarico winning in Texas is no fantasy.

He’s polling better than any Dem Senate nominee at this point since 2002.

Unlike O’Rourke in 2018, Talarico’s ahead now. Paxton’s much less popular than Cruz was.

I wouldn’t say the GOP is ‘sacred,’ as much as I’d posit they’re more wrapped up in Paxton v Cornyn drama right now to waste any immediate capital going after this little squint.

But God forbid he wins because no one went after him in time. 

That would be what is known as ‘JUST SHOOT ME.‘

You know those adorable cat and dog videos, where the title says something like ‘Dog Dads,’ and they play a funny snippet, then there’s a DONK! buzzer thing, then the next snippet?

They’re hilarious.

Well, someone did the same thing for some of Texas Opie’s greatest hits.

The lad’s a freak.

But much like his polar opposite at the northern end of the country, the menacingly crude and buffoonish Graham Platner, Talarico’s schtick is also skeevey with a personal aura that is so unsettling, but the package wrapping is so different. 

Talarico has swathed himself in this New Agey preacher persona, and then the damndest things come out of that supposedly Christian mouth once he thinks he has an audience mesmerized.

At least one CNN analyst sees problems for Opie with Christians in Texas, however optimistic the Democrats are feeling right now. She says, ‘This is going to be the race they run against him. It’s going to be a total culture war.‘

CNN keeps acting surprised that Christian voters can tell the difference between Christianity and progressive politics wearing a clerical collar.

Scott Jennings said Texas Dems might well have been better off had they chosen Jasmine Crockett because, for all her loudmouthed obtuseness, she was a classic conservative opponent with a normal liberal voting record.

Talarico is another kettle of rotten, whacko woke fish entirely.

There are so many Opie-isms to choose from. He just wings it and flings it as the spirit takes him.

You’ll note I did not say ‘HOLY‘ spirit. I’d hesitate to guess what’s inspiring him.

Democrat and Presbyterian seminarian James Talarico has won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

– Thinks the story of Mary’s Annunciation is proof that God supports abortion.

Opie is also campaigning with the white-hating crowd to shore up his ‘I Hate Being a White Man’ credentials.

Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico is aiming to win over Texas voters by campaigning with anti-white Texas State Rep. Gene Wu, who encouraged minorities to “take over this country.”

Talarico appeared alongside Wu on a Tuesday campaign stop in Houston, Texas, saying, “Asian Americans need a fighter in the Senate.” While Wu urged the Democratic Senate hopeful to embrace his particular ethnicity, he has not always treated white Americans with the same sensitivity.

“Gene Wu and James Talarico are two peas in a pod, bashing white people to fuel their woke agenda,” Republican National Committee spokesman Zach Kraft told the Daily Caller. “The embrace of blatant racism is disgusting, and Talarico needs to apologize for smearing hardworking Texans.”

That should help him in Austin and Houston, but I’m not sure how it’ll fly in what’s left of real Texas.

But with Trump wading into the race today, Dems are licking their chops, although that might be premature considering how things have been going lately for Trump endorsements.

James Talarico’s U.S. Senate campaign is getting some new national attention following President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the GOP runoff.

A spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s PAC, which raised more than $380 million for Democratic candidates during the 2024 campaign, said they were “bullish” on Talarico’s chances in the general election in November.

“There is every likelihood we’ll make a mark there,” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Lauren French.

The PAC wouldn’t say whether they plan to directly fund the Texas race. But the statement quickly drew speculation in Washington that national Democratic money could soon be headed to Talarico, a 37-year-old former state representative who is outspoken about his Christian faith.

There are 14 U.S. Senate seats up for election in November, 10 of which are held by Republicans. So far, Senate Democrats have largely been focused on races in North Carolina and Iowa, where Republican Sens.Thom Tillis and Joni Ernst are stepping down, along with trying to defeat incumbent U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan in Alaska. They are also defending seats in Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Paxton comes with his own baggage he’s going to have to overcome, and establishment man Cornyn was a non-starter for many in the GOP flock. Hopefully whoever emerges victorious from the runoff can get the faithful to coalesce around them and thump Talarico back into obscure unemployment.
