Murphy made the comment on the “Nobody Knows Anything” podcast, declaring that Democrats would have no choice but to “reform” the filibuster to accomplish their goals.

That is Democrat talk for nuking one of the few remaining tools that slow the rush toward one party rule.

“Of course, we’re going to have to compromise, but we’re not going to get any of this stuff done as long as the filibuster stops us from doing it,” Murphy said.

“And if Democrats gain power, we are going to have to reform the filibuster so we can get our core economic ideas done, or nobody is going to vote for us ever again.”

He went on to whine about Republicans having a so called “rigged” advantage because of the way certain votes can pass with a simple majority.

His solution is to change the rules to make it easier for Democrats to push through whatever they want.

In his words, “all we would be doing is updating the Senate rules so that Republicans’ priorities can get done with 50 votes and Democrats’ priorities can get done with 50 votes.”

That claim falls apart under even the slightest scrutiny.

The reconciliation process Murphy complains about is not a permanent trick for Republicans.

It is a budget rule that both parties have used when convenient.

And the shift to simple vote confirmations for nominees began with none other than Harry Reid’s Democrat majority back in 2013.

Murphy’s spin hides the obvious truth.

The filibuster has always served as a check against whichever side happens to hold the gavel.

Democrats are not victims of some unfair Republican system.

They are frustrated because their radical economic bills, federal takeovers of elections, and social justice slush funds cannot pass under normal Senate rules.

Republicans currently hold a 53 to 47 majority, which means they have the power to end the filibuster themselves.

But Senate Majority Leader John Thune insists that he does not have enough votes to do it.

At an Independence Day address delivered before the faces of past presidents at Mount Rushmore, Trump again pressed the issue.

“We can only lose the midterms if we allow ourselves to lose the midterms if we are foolish, stupid, and unwise,” he told supporters.

He then laid out his plan: “If we terminate the filibuster as we should do and immediately vote for the SAVE America Act, then we will not lose an election for a hundred years.”

The SAVE America Act has become Trump’s top legislative priority.

It would secure elections by requiring proof of citizenship and photo identification to vote.

Those are simple, common sense measures that most Americans support. Yet to Democrats, that kind of security is unacceptable because it limits opportunities for chaos and manipulation.

Republicans, however, are showing little urgency. With Democrats openly discussing rule changes to pass legislation that would let noncitizens vote, time is running out.

If the GOP chooses to “play nice” yet again while the other side shreds the rulebook, conservatives may find themselves regretting it for generations.

The hypocrisy is thick enough to cut with a knife.

The same Democrats who once hailed the filibuster as sacred when they were in the minority now treat it as an outdated nuisance.

The only principle they follow is sheer power.

The filibuster is good when it serves them and terrible when it does not.

Murphy’s comments serve as another reminder that Democrats will do whatever it takes to cement control.

Trump, on the other hand, continues to push a strategy that prioritizes election integrity and Republican strength over empty bipartisanship.

The choice is clear. Republicans can either act boldly and secure free and fair elections through measures like the SAVE America Act or sit on their hands while Democrats tear down Senate rules and flood the system with manufactured votes.
