Carl Higbie criticized congressional Republicans for failing to move quickly enough on President Donald Trump’s agenda, arguing that GOP lawmakers are putting their congressional majorities at risk heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

“It’s kind of time to start asking if the Republican majority Senate is interested in the Republican agenda as defined by, I don’t know, the leader of the party, Donald Trump,” Higbie said.

“New new poll just came out showing the Democrats, there’s a good chance that they take both the House and the Senate, and I feel like that’s somewhat unlikely.”

Higbie played a clip of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker predicting Republicans will lose control of Congress.

“Donald Trump, Governor Abbott, Texas Republicans, well, they know that they’re headed toward a loss of the Congress in 2026,” Pritzker said.

Higbie said he does not put much faith in polling but argued Republicans should not find themselves facing a competitive situation after campaigning on Trump’s agenda.

“Apparently, the poll says that is going to happen. I don’t trust the polls so much,” Higbie said.

“And Republicans are looking at these polls, and they’re like freaking out about it, which they should be, but we shouldn’t have to be here in the first place, because if they would just do what they said they were going to do, like back on the campaign trail, these polls wouldn’t even be close.”

Higbie argued that Trump has accumulated a record Republicans could use heading into the midterms if Congress would codify more of his policies and communicate those accomplishments to voters.

“Trump is dragging members of Congress across their own finish line kicking and screaming,” Higbie said.

He pointed to immigration enforcement, saying the border has been shut down and mass migration is being reversed.

Higbie said 50,000 people were deported during the previous month and argued that the number would have been higher without court intervention.

Higbie also highlighted passage of the Laken Riley Act, saying it requires illegal immigrants who commit another crime to be detained.

“One of the few things Congress did was pass the Laken Riley Act that forces illegals who commit another crime to be detained, something that every normal person thinks makes perfect sense,” Higbie said.

He also credited Trump with supporting law enforcement amid a decline in violent crime and recalled the difficulty Republicans had passing Trump’s tax legislation.

“Do you remember how much we had to fight to get the big beautiful bill passed against a Republican Congress?” Higbie said.

“Yeah, like they had tax cuts in it. He had to fight a Republican Congress to let you keep more of your money.”

Higbie then turned to prescription drug prices and played a clip of Trump discussing his administration’s efforts.

“We went from the highest price for pharmaceuticals, for drugs, to the lowest. We’ve slashed the cost of dozens of commonly used medications, and ultimately, everything, all drugs,” Trump said.

Higbie argued congressional Republicans should focus on advancing those policies rather than fighting the president.

“Maybe if Congress spent less time fighting Donald Trump on like lowering taxes and lowering price on medicine, and more time on lowering them even more, we wouldn’t have to be concerned about the midterms right now,” Higbie said.

Higbie also credited Trump with repealing 129 regulations for every new regulation, securing nearly $20 trillion in investment commitments from other countries, reducing the trade deficit and expanding American oil production.

“We are pumping more oil now than Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia by almost a factor of two,” Higbie said.

He additionally pointed to the return of nuclear power, reductions in the federal workforce, challenges to nationwide injunctions, increased NATO contributions, nationwide school choice and Trump’s claimed eight global peace deals.

Higbie said military recruiting also improved, with the armed forces meeting recruiting goals during the first half of the year.

He additionally cited recent Supreme Court developments involving election rules and the administration’s planned White House ballroom.

Higbie contrasted those policies with conditions during former President Joe Biden’s administration, pointing to inflation, egg shortages and supply-chain problems.

“Versus what? Joe Biden had like what 9% inflation, egg shortages, global supply crisis,” Higbie said.

“It’s like people have amnesia worse than Joe Biden did. They forget how bad things were under Joe Biden.”

Higbie rejected arguments attributing those problems primarily to the aftermath of COVID-19, instead blaming the Biden administration’s management of the situation.

“Yes, COVID started under Trump, but all the crazy stuff happened and continued under Joe Biden,” Higbie said.

He also criticized former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Anthony Fauci and the Biden administration’s expansion of the federal workforce while pointing to what he described as a collapse in private-sector employment.

For Higbie, the political concern is that congressional Republicans have not done enough to turn Trump’s policies into lasting law before voters return to the polls.

“Imagine just imagine for like half a second if Congress was out there codifying this agenda and communicating it properly, which Republicans don’t do,” Higbie said.
