Wide receiver Jauan Jennings, one of the top remaining free agents entering Thursday, has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year contract reportedly worth up to $13 million for the 2026 NFL season. The move adds depth and experience to a Vikings receiving corps already featuring Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

The Vikings announced the agreement on Thursday, continuing an offseason in which the team has reshaped its passing game under head coach Kevin O’Connell. Minnesota’s offensive overhaul has included multiple additions aimed at improving production through the air.

Jennings joins the Vikings after spending the previous season with the San Francisco 49ers, where he recorded 55 receptions for 643 yards. The prior year, he totaled 77 catches and 975 yards, reflecting back-to-back productive campaigns before entering free agency.

Minnesota entered the offseason looking for a capable option to fill the No. 3 receiver role behind Jefferson and Addison. With Jennings now in the mix, the Vikings have added another target capable of supplementing their established wideouts.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

There are questions surrounding how Jennings will transition to playing outside of Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system, where he posted his most recent numbers. However, he will now operate within Kevin O’Connell’s scheme, surrounded by impact players at multiple positions on offense.

The deal adds another offensive weapon for newly acquired quarterback Kyler Murray, who is the odds-on favorite to lead Minnesota into the upcoming campaign. Jennings’ arrival offers another reliable option as Murray begins his tenure under O’Connell.

Last season, the Vikings began the 2025 campaign with Super Bowl aspirations but finished short of expectations. Team officials have cited inconsistency at the quarterback position as one of the primary issues affecting their play throughout the year.

In addressing the quarterback spot with Kyler Murray and continuing to add offensive pieces like Jennings, the Vikings are setting up their offense with multiple established talents on the outside. A strengthened passing attack and experienced leadership were among the team’s clear priorities this offseason.

Throughout the offseason, Minnesota’s emphasis on adding to its offense has drawn attention to both positional balance and schematic depth. Jennings fits that pattern, reinforcing the Vikings’ strategy of stockpiling skill-position contributors.

Jennings’ signing brings added efficiency to a unit already defined by Jefferson’s productivity and Addison’s development. His recent production with San Francisco provides a statistical foundation heading into an environment featuring multiple high-target receivers.

Minnesota’s one-year commitment positions Jennings to make an immediate impact while also keeping long-term flexibility within the organization’s wider personnel structure. The reported $13 million maximum value places him in a short-term, performance-based scenario for the 2026 NFL season.
