Fox News host Harris Faulkner tore into a Democratic guest on “The Faulkner Focus” on Friday as a riot broke out at a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Illinois.
President Donald Trump hinted at stepped-up federal enforcement efforts in Chicago in an Aug. 25 post on Truth Social, following it up with a meme based on a famous character from the movie “Apocalypse Now” posted Sept. 6. Faulkner called what was going on in Broadview, a suburb of Chicago, a “riot.” (RELATED: ‘Based On Hate’: Tom Homan Tells Harris Faulkner Anti-ICE Rhetoric Spurred Dallas Shooter To ‘Take Action’)
“The defiance that we’re seeing of the rioters. We won’t call them peaceful protestors at this; we will call balls and strikes for what they are,” Faulkner said to Fox News contributor Leslie Marshall. “This is not right, Leslie. I often hear you say you don’t call for violence. Democrat lawmakers have to stand up to this today. Otherwise, they look feckless and without ideas on how to rule their own party.”

Federal agents were forced to fire pepper balls at the rioters, according to video posted on X by multiple accounts, with some of the rioters being arrested. Some of the rioters called for the ICE agents to be arrested or shot in another video posted online.
“I agree violence is never the answer, but here in Los Angeles –” Marshall said before Faulkner interrupted with, “Wait a minute! Violence is not the answer, period!”
“I’m not saying – I’m saying we’re seeing tactics that are very violent in nature and seeing people that aren’t violent with criminal records and citizens and people with legal documents, work permits, legally allowed to be here and why some people are coming out protesting because they are saying enough is enough,” Marshall claimed.
The Department of Homeland Security blamed Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago for the violence in a post on X.
“Illinois @GovPritzker and @ChicagosMayor Brandon Johnson’s nonstop demonization of ICE has fueled the frenzied riots at the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois,” DHS said. “Since September 19, violent rioters have repeatedly attacked this ICE facility. DHS and law enforcement have arrested 17 of these violent rioters on multiple charges including obstruction and assault on a federal officer.”
At least one person was killed during a shooting at the ICE office in Dallas on Wednesday, with the gunman taking his own life. In Texas, there were two previous incidents where shots were fired at ICE or Border Patrol facilities since July 4, with ten people being charged with attempted murder in connection with the former incident.
Resistance to ICE operations to arrest illegal immigrants has also included a Milwaukee judge who allegedly helped an illegal immigrant briefly evade ICE agents in April and Democratic Mayor Freddie O’Connell of Nashville releasing the names of ICE agents involved in a crackdown on illegal immigrants in the city in May. In New York City, ICE agents arrested Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander June 18 after he allegedly interfered with an ICE operation in a Manhattan court. Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver of New Jersey was charged with assaulting an ICE agent after a May incident at an ICE facility in Newark.
