YGBKM: WNBA Team Bans Freedom As ‘Threat’

Alternate headline: Chicago Sky Refuses to Bake the Cake, B****.

Can a WNBA team ban a fan from its premises? Yes, but the Left has spent the last decade or more attempting to force private businesses into forced speech promoting their agenda. Ask Jack Phillips or Baronelle Stutzman about the costs of non-compliance with the Queer/Trans Movement’s messaging. 

Not to mention that, thanks to a name change, the Chicago Sky is literally and figuratively banning Freedom from its premises … over a T-shirt:

The Chicago Sky have banned Enes Kanter Freedom from their home games after the former NBA center was ejected from Sunday’s loss to the Indiana Fever.

Owner Michael Alter made the announcement in a rare news conference on Tuesday. Alter told reporters Freedom isn’t allowed in Wintrust Arena for Sky games “unless sometime in the future he’s able to prove to us to our satisfaction that he is able to abide by our rules without being a potential threat.”

Er … what threat? Even CBS News reports that the threat came from the court rather than towards it:

The Fever called for a timeout after Cloud scored inside with 1:22 left in the third. Cloud then did a chest bump with teammate Aicha Coulibaly before turning around and walking in Freedom’s direction.

Cloud, 34, started yelling and pointing at Freedom, also 34, as she approached him. Video showed a standing Kanter holding his arms out and taking one step on the court as security and a handful of Sky players moved in between the two.

The only threat on that court came from Cloud, not Freedom. Freedom insists that all he did was cheer Sophie Cunningham’s three-pointer by standing up, which is obviously neither a threat nor a rules violation at a sporting event, especially for people shelling out big bucks for courtside seats. If standing up while cheering is a “threat,” American sports venues would remain as empty as during the COVID era, or for the WNBA, business as usual before Caitlin Clark showed up and Cunningham became America’s sweetheart. 

The video of the incident shows that Freedom never crossed the boundary into the area of play, remaining within the seating section, while Cloud crossed half a court while losing her cool and her mind over Freedom’s T-shirt:

What exactly is the “threat” Freedom represented on the court this weekend? The league should bench Cloud for her unprofessional outburst, and for creating a spectacle in the middle of a game her team went on to lose by more than 20 points. The WNBA refuses to embrace Clark or Cunningham but instead circles its wagons around a bush-league clown whose mind is so out of the game that she’s more interested in T-shirts than defense. 

As I wrote earlier this week, the WNBA is not a professional sports league:

When was the last time anyone saw a player in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, or even the minor leagues of these sports lose their minds and their focus over a T-shirt in the stands? When was the last time a fan got tossed for wearing a non-obscene T-shirt in any of these leagues? This is the second time in a week for the WNBA in which a team either threatened to expel or outright expelled fans for wearing T-shirts that only expressed support for biology as the definition of “women.”

This isn’t a sports league. It’s a struggle session with cardio. It’s a woke drum circle, and the only players who understand professionalism and mental discipline are those targeted by the struggle-session clique.

The Chicago Sky has banned Freedom not because he threatened anyone, but because freedom of speech threatens to expose this woke drum circle for what it truly is. The WNBA would rather ban freedom – which they have attempted at other games by threatening to eject women wearing Jennifer Sey’s XX/XY gear – rather than allow for a debate in public over what the W means in WNBA. In this case, not only are the Sky refusing to bake the cake, but they won’t allow anyone inside who would like a slice of it either. This is the Authoritarian Woke Left exposing its true nature out of fear of getting depantsed by … a T-shirt.

Pathetic. What’s next – banning Charles Barkley? I’d love to see them try it.
