Passenger Dragged Off Southwest Flight After Security Threat Forces Diversion to Atlanta [WATCH]

A Southwest Airlines flight traveling from Nashville, Tennessee, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was diverted Friday night after what officials described as a possible security issue onboard, prompting a law enforcement response at one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Southwest flight 2094 was originally scheduled to fly directly to Fort Lauderdale but was forced to alter its route during the trip.

The aircraft landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at approximately 9:06 p.m., where officers with the Atlanta Police Department boarded the plane and removed a passenger.

The diversion followed concerns raised during the flight that led the airline to treat the situation as a potential security matter. Authorities met the aircraft shortly after it touched down in Atlanta.

Video posted to X from inside the aircraft shows the tense moment when officers entered the plane.

Passengers can be seen seated with their hands raised above their heads while law enforcement officers approached an individual toward the front of the aircraft.

The footage shows officers placing the passenger in handcuffs before escorting the individual down the aisle and off the plane.

The person was then removed from the aircraft by Atlanta police.

The passengers remained seated during the encounter while officers handled the situation.

The video circulating on social media captured the visible concern among travelers as the removal took place.

Southwest Airlines confirmed that the aircraft was diverted as a precaution after reports of a potential threat onboard.

The airline said in a statement that the plane changed course in order to respond to a “possible security matter.”

The airline did not provide further details about the nature of the concern that led to the diversion.
