Four teenagers in Texas are facing serious felony charges after authorities say they kidnapped and assaulted a former classmate in an incident tied to a personal dispute, according to arrest affidavits from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by The New York Post.

Jose Rojas-Alvarado, Oscar Armando Santiago-Martinez, Angel Lemus-Perez, and Carlos Roberto Oliva-Villeda, all 17, have been charged with aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon following the alleged February attack involving a student connected to Del Valle High School, located about 15 miles from downtown Austin.

Investigators say the incident began on Feb. 19, when the victim left the school campus with three of the suspects. Authorities allege the victim was lured to a nearby farm, where a fourth suspect was waiting inside a garage.

According to the affidavits, once inside the garage, one suspect allegedly held a gun to the victim’s head while the others restrained him using duct tape on his hands, feet, and mouth.

The suspects are accused of forcing the victim to consume alcohol before physically assaulting him with aluminum bats, a walking cane, and a belt.

During the incident, authorities say the group threatened to kill the victim and warned they would harm him and his family if he contacted law enforcement.

After being released, the victim went directly to the authorities and reported the incident. He told investigators that the attack stemmed from a dispute involving communication with one of the suspects’ girlfriends.

Law enforcement officials said the victim’s injuries were consistent with his account, noting significant bruising across his back, chest, and legs.

Affidavits indicate that some of the suspects allegedly told investigators they had been planning the attack for several days. Authorities also stated that one suspect allegedly recorded the incident on a phone.

If convicted, the four teens face potential prison sentences ranging from five to 99 years.

Court records show that one of the suspects, Angel Lemus-Perez, is also facing an additional charge of engaging in organized criminal activity.

The case has drawn attention within the Del Valle community and among students at the high school. J’Kaideon Mitchell, a student, reacted to the reports.

“I thought it was insane, especially at our school,” Mitchell told KEYE. “It’s just crazy how strong that person would have to be to report it and just stay alive, honestly.”

“Everyone’s pretty spooked… Everyone’s been like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe this is happening,’” he added.

Del Valle Independent School District confirmed that the suspects are no longer enrolled in the district.

“The incident is being actively investigated by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The district does not have further information at this time,” the district said in a statement to CBS Austin.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to monitor this incident.”
