Actress Sydney Sweeney appeared nearly fully nude in a recent episode of the HBO series Euphoria, with scenes from the show prompting reactions from viewers online, as reported by Breitbart.

Episode 2 of the show’s third season, released Sunday, features Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard, uploading nude content to an OnlyFans account. According to the episode’s storyline, the character joins the platform in order to pay for $50,000 in floral arrangements for her upcoming wedding.

The episode also includes a sequence in which the character is depicted wearing a sheer, soaking-wet American flag. Another scene shows a baseball-themed photoshoot in which the character appears nude except for a small nude-colored thong.

The episode follows earlier promotional material for the season that had already drawn attention. A teaser trailer for Season 3 featured Sweeney’s character dressed in a baby-themed outfit, including a sheer top and a pacifier.

During one scene, Cassie removes the pacifier and asks a housekeeper assisting with the photos, “Do you ever feel like your life could be bigger? Even though you’re just a housekeeper?”

The actress has previously addressed her approach to nude scenes in interviews. In 2022, she said she had declined certain requests for nudity made by the show’s creator, Sam Levinson.

“There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless, and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘Okay, we don’t need it,’” she told The Independent. “I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”

Sweeney has also spoken about differences in how male and female actors are perceived when appearing nude on screen.

In comments to Cosmopolitan, she said, “There are hour-long compilations of world-famous male actors with nude scenes who win Oscars and get praised for that work. But the moment a woman does it, it degrades them.” She added, “I really hope I can have a little part in changing that.”

In 2023, Sweeney said she had been targeted online by individuals sharing screenshots from her scenes in the show. “It got to the point where they were tagging my family. My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair,” she told The Sun.

“You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.” She added:

“I think it’s ridiculous. I’m an artist. I play characters. It makes me want to play characters that piss people off more.”
