Calls Dems Out by Name, Brings Receipts on Violent Rhetoric [WATCH]

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a sharp rebuke of Democratic leaders, arguing that repeated rhetoric from elected officials has contributed to a hostile political environment surrounding President Donald Trump.

Speaking during a press briefing, Leavitt said the tone used by members of the Democratic Party over several years has gone beyond standard political criticism and has instead framed Trump in extreme terms.

She pointed to statements from multiple high-profile officials as examples of what she described as escalating language.

“It’s not just the media, it is the entire Democrat Party has made their pitch to voters across the country that Donald Trump poses an existential threat to democracy, that he is a fascist and that they compare him to Hitler. These are despicable statements that the American people have been consuming for years, and so many mentally perturbed individuals are led to believe these words are truth, and then are inspired to act on it,” Leavitt said.

Leavitt said she could provide extensive documentation of remarks made by Democratic officials, describing them as a pattern rather than isolated incidents.

“I have a whole host of examples that we can share with you after it is pages and pages of major Democrat party elected officials saying such as Rep Hakeem Jeffries, just this April, this month, said we are in an era of maximum warfare everywhere all the time,” she stated.

She went on to cite additional comments from other Democratic figures, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, whom she said declared that “heads need to roll within the administration.”

Leavitt also referenced statements from Sen. Alex Padilla, noting that he said people are “quote, dying because of fear and terror caused by the Trump administration.”

Continuing her remarks, Leavitt pointed to comments she attributed to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, stating that Warren said President Trump is making the country look like a “quote fascist.”

She also referenced California Sen. Adam Schiff, saying he described Trump as using a “dictator playbook.”

Leavitt further cited Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, saying he referred to Trump as a dictator and described the administration’s actions as “authoritarianism on steroids.”

She also mentioned Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, stating he said, “never before in my life have I called for mass protest disruptions. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.”

Additional remarks cited by Leavitt included comments from Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who she said declared, “we’ll see you in the streets,” and Rep. Monica McIver, whom she quoted as saying, “We will not take this shit from Donald Trump. He thinks he’s a dictator. We are at war.”

Leavitt argued that the cumulative effect of these statements has contributed to a climate in which aggressive actions are more likely.

“These are Democrat elected officials calling for war against the President of the United States and his supporters. I could go on and on. But again, when you have people in positions of power that are saying things like this every single day for years, you are inspiring violence by people who are already mentally ill. And that’s what we’ve seen against this president for far too long,” she said.
