A Washington state woman accused of chasing a child on a dirt bike with her car along a residential sidewalk was released from jail the day after her arrest despite facing multiple charges, according to authorities in Washington, as reported by Fox News.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said 56-year-old Wendy A. Clemente was arrested Monday after deputies investigated two separate incidents occurring within about an hour of each other in Spokane County.
Authorities said the first incident happened around 5:05 p.m. when Clemente allegedly drove a silver sedan onto a residential sidewalk while chasing a boy riding a dirt bike.
Investigators said the witness video captured the vehicle pursuing the child down the sidewalk in what deputies described as a reckless outburst. The child was not injured during the encounter.

After receiving the report, deputies quickly identified Clemente as the suspected driver and began searching for her vehicle.
Roughly an hour later, deputies responded to another call approximately one mile away involving a possible burglary attempt.
According to the sheriff’s office, a homeowner monitoring security cameras reported seeing a woman attempting to open door handles around the property.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they located Clemente in the driveway and took her into custody.
Investigators said Clemente initially denied any wrongdoing during questioning. According to deputies, she claimed she had stopped at the property because she wanted her dog to socialize with other dogs in the area.
Authorities said Clemente also told deputies she did not know the homeowner and claimed she did not remember the earlier confrontation involving the child on the dirt bike.
During the investigation, deputies reported observing signs of impairment. Clemente initially denied consuming alcohol before later admitting she had been drinking, according to authorities.
Deputies said the situation escalated further while they attempted to place Clemente into a patrol vehicle. Authorities alleged she resisted officers and attempted to kick one of the deputies during the arrest process.
As part of the DUI investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for a blood sample.
Clemente was booked into the Spokane County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree assault, driving under the influence, and first-degree criminal trespass.
Despite the allegations, the sheriff’s office said a court commissioner ordered Clemente released from custody the following day on her own recognizance without requiring bond.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
The witness video showing the silver sedan allegedly chasing the child circulated online following the arrest and drew significant attention as details of the case emerged.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about what may have led to the confrontation involving the child riding the dirt bike.
The investigation remains ongoing.
