The Trump administration is taking sharp action to protect taxpayer dollars and end wasteful spending that ballooned under Joe Biden.

The White House Office of Management and Budget will roll out sweeping reforms to how up to one trillion dollars in federal grants are distributed, ensuring that federal money actually serves American citizens, not freeloaders or partisan social projects.

Officials say the updated system will force accountability, eliminate fraud, and prevent foreign nationals and left-wing activists from abusing federal programs.

Under the plan, all grant applicants must use E-Verify to confirm they are legal U.S. citizens, and all funding announcements must be written in English, not translated for whoever happens to show up looking for a handout.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Russ Vought, the OMB director, outlined the proposal that puts political appointees in charge of giving final approval on grants, guaranteeing that taxpayer money aligns with President Trump’s policy priorities. Payments will depend on results, not empty promises or vague progress reports.

“In the past, you got yourself a nice grant that might last three or four or five years for a certain amount every quarter or every year, and that’s just an invitation for underperformance and under-delivery,” one official said.

“So we’ll wipe those out and, instead, you’re going to get paid for performance.”

That means the end of blank checks for politically connected groups that under Biden used “grants” as slush funds for everything from climate crusades to social justice seminars.

The Trump team wants to make sure every dollar is earned and that the purpose of each grant is carried out efficiently, without excuses.

The agencies that will feel the biggest shock are Health and Human Services, which oversees about 85 billion dollars in annual grant spending, and the Department of Transportation, which handles roughly 45 billion dollars each year.

These agencies were notorious for slow-moving programs and weak oversight under Democrats.

Taxpayer protection will go further through strengthened enforcement.

All fraud complaints against grant recipients must now be sent to inspectors general and the office of U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro within ten days of being flagged.

This change ends the years of bureaucratic paper pushing that often buried evidence of corruption.

Grants that contradict Trump’s policies will be frozen or eliminated.

That means programs promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion schemes, gender ideology experiments, or anything tied to the so-called Green New Deal will find themselves on the chopping block.

“If a grant—even after it went through all these checks, even after it was qualified, even after money was going out the door, veers off from the commitment to stick with presidential policies, then … we’re able to turn it off,” another official explained.

The message to activist bureaucrats is clear: toe the line or lose the money.

The administration says these reforms will save taxpayers enormous sums and prevent the kind of rampant fraud that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost hundreds of billions of dollars.

The pandemic exposed how poorly the previous administration managed emergency spending, often rushing funds to unverified recipients while oversight took a backseat.

The move also follows earlier financial crackdowns aimed at blue states that misused federal welfare money.

Earlier this year, more than ten billion dollars in large block grants were frozen due to concerns over illegal or wasteful spending.

Vice President JD Vance’s task force has also reclaimed 260 million dollars in Medicaid funds from Minnesota after finding clear evidence of abuse.

By enforcing E-Verify across all grants, the administration ensures that American jobs and money go to actual Americans, not illegal aliens or shell organizations pretending to serve the public.

Combined with English-only requirements, the new rules reassert that federal funds exist to serve the citizens who earned them, not special interest groups with globalist agendas.

The reforms restore accountability that vanished under Biden’s watch and send a warning to progressive bureaucrats who thought they could quietly advance their cultural and political pet projects with taxpayer cash.

This is government returning to its proper role, serving citizens first, demanding results, and cutting off freeloaders who treat Washington as a cash dispenser.

For conservatives, this marks a meaningful victory in restoring fiscal responsibility and national sovereignty.

It is about time American taxpayers stop footing the bill for programs that mock their values, ignore their borders, and waste their hard-earned money.

Trump’s approach, rooted in performance and patriotism, promises a sorely needed turnaround in how Washington treats the people who actually fund it.
