Federal authorities reportedly deployed to Skid Row in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday amid a probe into alleged voter fraud in the city’s 2026 primary election for mayor.
Roughly 20 agents reportedly moved in on the area notorious for a chronic homeless population after multiple homeless people alleged they were paid money to fill out registration forms, provide voter information, and forge signatures, according to The California Post. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California told the Daily Caller that federal agents launched a probe into a criminal matter. The outlet described observing three plainclothes agents interviewing dozens of individuals shortly before noon local time. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) personnel reportedly took part in the operation. Officers wearing jeans and sweatshirts as well as baseball caps spoke with Skid Row residents who seemingly directed them on where to observe, according to the Post.

A homeless woman alleged in a since-deleted video that she was paid $2 to vote for Democrat Mayor Karen Bass in the recent election, claiming electioneers told her to “sign the little thing” and saying they “come out here all the time,” the Daily Caller reported June 11. A homeless man claimed he received a $2 offer initially but haggled his way up to $4 to vote for the mayor. Again, the video has been deleted from social media.
The Los Angeles primary mayoral election began June 2. Bass secured first place with 34% of the vote; left-wing Democrat City Councilwoman Nithya Raman obtained 29% of the vote, NBC News reported with 99% of expected votes in. Republican candidate and reality star Spencer Pratt secured 25.5% of the vote, according to the outlet. President Donald Trump backed Pratt in the race May 20, according to ABC7.
“I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well,” the president said.
