Ceuta Crisis, Despite Sánchez’s Assurances, Gets Even Worse

Pedro Sánchez is a socialist, so none of us should be surprised that he is lying when he tells everybody that the situation in Ceuta is back under control.

It is anything but.

Now it’s true that most of the people who stormed the border have filtered back into Morocco, but about 20-25 percent are sticking it out and making clear that they have no interest in going back home.

It’s also true that the border is not secure. If people decide to cross it, they can. It’s just a bit harder.

🇪🇸 In Ceuta, a crowd of illegal Moroccan migrants is already establishing its own rules in the city

The people who left were on a lark, reveling in the violence of the mob or just enjoying the feeling of power that comes from being in a mob; but obviously quite a few of the people really wanted to leave Morocco, and it’s hard to say how many are even Moroccan. This invasion was planned for quite a while, so it’s quite possible that more than a few come from other countries and they are looking for an easy way to infiltrate the EU, courtesy of Sánchez.

The Mayor of Ceuta says that the Sanche government is lying about how many illegal migrants have returned from Ceuta.

He says that 10 000-15 000 illegal are still sleeping on the streets of Ceuta, with many of them setting up make-shift camps on the beaches. pic.twitter.com/uUOt6REVPy

Sánchez is trying to manage the optics of the situation, and apparently sees the “crisis” as the criticism he is getting for being so soft on immigration. It doesn’t appear that he thinks that open borders are the problem at all, which is why anybody to the right of Lenin is angry at him right now.

Ceuta today is what El Paso was like under Biden, only worse, since it is a small enclave with no exits except back into Morocco, or onto small boats to make it to the Spanish mainland. Which, to be fair, some are taking, although I can’t imagine the supply of such boats is great, and replenishment is not easy.

This is today in Ceuta.

Hordes of invaders are marching through the streets while chanting “There is no god but Allah”, and “Allahu Akbar”.

Don’t believe the communist regime or legacy media.

I doubt that Sánchez is much worried about the backlash within Spain itself—like Biden, he appears remarkably insensitive to the criticisms of his fellow countrymen, for whom he appears to have contempt. In fact, his party has said outright that they are trying to replace the current set of voters with ones more amenable to the socialist agenda, which is why they just legalized about a million illegal aliens.

Right now, invading Moroccans in Ceuta carry an injured man through the streets screaming “Allahu Akbar.”

Dirty Sánchez says this isn’t happening.

But he appears sensitive to the pressure from the European Union members who are totally freaking out. Twenty-two of the 27 EU countries have done more than express concern—they are agitating for Spain to be at least temporarily kicked out of the Schengen Zone, and a special meeting is set up for tomorrow to consider options.

“Diversity is one of our main attractions and one of our strengths”

So Sánchez is busy spinning things and has refrained from evacuating the migrants who won’t leave voluntarily to the Spanish mainland. I’m not certain how long he can hold out on that; Ceuta is small and apparently has over 10,000 or so illegal aliens roaming the streets or camped out on the beach. No doubt that some can be basically starved into leaving, but I suspect that the majority will engage in what amounts to siege warfare.

BREAKING:

The prime ministers of 22 out of 27 EU member states have written a joint letter to the EU, demanding an emergency summit over the invasion of illegal migrants in Ceuta.

They are outraged by the recent ruling of the Spanish Supreme Court:

🇮🇹 Italy

🇩🇪 Germany

🇩🇰 Denmark

🇫🇮 Finland

🇸🇪 Sweden

🇦🇹 Austria

🇧🇪 Belgium

🇳🇱 Netherlands

🇧🇬 Bulgaria

🇨🇾 Cyprus

🇸🇮 Slovenia

🇭🇷 Croatia

🇨🇿 Czechia

🇸🇰 Slovakia

🇪🇪 Estonia

🇱🇻 Latvia

🇱🇹 Lithuania

🇫🇮 Finland

🇬🇷 Greece

🇭🇺 Hungary

🇵🇱 Poland

🇷🇴 Romania

France, Ireland and Portugal were the only larger EU states that didn’t sign the letter.

Sánchez has been riding high for some time now; not so much in his own country, where he is quite unpopular, but among international leftists. You may recall he recently hosted a worldwide conference for far-left politicians and basked in the glow of the great press he was getting. He has positioned himself as the anti-Trump, and it has raised his profile and made him into a hero for the #resistance.

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez has learned a hard truth over the past few days:

Once one of the EU’s most charismatic and influential leaders, he is now effectively a pariah in the bloc.

But like the Mamdani supporters who have suddenly turned on him now that he has doxxed their addresses and labeled them wealthy freeloaders, even European leftists in power are angry that Sánchez’s policies are harming them.

Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain overseeing its huge migrant influx, is a baddie

Earlier this year he was at the Global Progressive Summit in Barcelona with David Lammy (pictured embracing Sánchez), Alex Soros & Mia Amor Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados – who thinks that the UK owes $24tn in reparations 🚩

Also in attendance was the World’s Worst Economist, Professor Mariana Mazzucato, whose UCL department received $3 million from the Open Society Foundations (Soros)

European countries that have grown skeptical that mass migration is a wonderful thing—something any sane person could have and did tell them long before now—have realized that Spain’s recent regularization of over a million illegal aliens has set the stage for a second invasion, and this one legal, through chain migration of family members.

The last thing they need is that headache. Even left-leaning politicians understand that this is political poison.

European Union interior ministers will hold an emergency video conference on Tuesday to discuss last week’s events in Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta. It’s clear that Sánchez feels he is between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, his plans all along have been to facilitate the invasion of Europe, and on the other, he is under enormous pressure from a press and people he thought were on his side.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday accused several European governments of responding to the migration crisis in Ceuta out of “prejudice, fake news, ignorance, or political self-interest,” slamming their approach as “selfish, polarizing and illegal,” Spanish daily… pic.twitter.com/U1AdgwTYQ7

— Al-Estiklal English (@alestiklalen) August 1, 2026

So he’s doing what any progressive will do: a bit of theater, where he pretends to secure the border, and a bit of bullying, in which he accuses his critics of cruelty.

That approach isn’t going to work with the countries of the EU, I am pretty certain. The invasion of Ceuta has so much power to move opinion because the images were so stark, and unless he clamps down on the media and people posting videos online, it will remain an open sore.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen sought to smooth over tensions with Spain after Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez accused many of his fellow EU leaders of exploiting the migration crisis in Ceuta to attack his government. https://t.co/FWU8gxIl9i

Ursula von der Leyen is no doubt freaking out because this crisis has the potential to do enormous damage to the EU, which I am pretty sure is already on borrowed time. The internal contradictions are getting harder to ignore. The goal was always to link the countries together so that a rising tide would lift all boats; now it looks like that rising tide brings third-world boats.
