Newly Revealed Files Expose Karmelo Anthony Posing with Guns, Spewing Vile Rants

Newly revealed documents provide additional details about Karmelo Anthony’s conduct and communications in the months before he killed Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, as reported by The New York Post.

The 75-page collection of documents was obtained by the Daily Mail and includes photographs, videos and private messages involving Anthony.

The material was not presented to jurors during Anthony’s murder trial following an agreement between prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Among the records are images showing Anthony with firearms before the May 2, 2025, killing.

One image from November 2024 shows Anthony holding a handgun in a screenshot from a video.

Another photograph, dated May 5, 2024, shows Anthony, then 16, holding an AK-47-style rifle alongside three other teenagers.

A separate video reportedly shows Anthony aiming a firearm toward a residence before running away on Jan. 4, 2025. According to the Daily Mail, the documents do not establish whose residence appeared in the video.

The records also contain private messages in which Anthony made statements targeting other Black people and gay people.

Just one week before Metcalf was killed, Anthony sent messages to his girlfriend, Valeria Perez, expressing hostility toward Black people.

“I f—king despise black bitches,” he said, according to a screenshot of the exchange.

In another message, Anthony wrote, “F—king n—ers,” followed by, “They need to go die.”

The documents also include a message from June 2021 in which Anthony made comments about gay people. Speaking to a friend, he said, “These f—king gay people are f—king everything up.”

Anthony also expressed hatred toward then-President Joe Biden, saying Biden was “Gay ASB [as balls],” according to the documents.

Other messages described alleged criminal activity and additional conduct involving weapons.

In October 2024, Anthony told Perez that he “might gt [go to] jail” after claiming that he had broken into a neighbor’s home and stolen a watch.

The following month, Anthony allegedly told Perez that he had brought a gun and knife to school.

The records also provide additional information about Anthony’s relationship with Perez in the days immediately preceding the killing.

Collin County Assistant District Attorney Bill Wirskye said at Anthony’s appeal hearing last month that Perez had spoken with an assistant principal on April 2, 2025, the day of the killing, about Anthony allegedly stalking her following their breakup.

Wirskye said Perez also described Anthony as being obsessed with fights, guns and knives.

According to Wirskye, Anthony sent his former girlfriend a photograph of a knife and told her, “I’m low key on the verge.”

“He was spiraling,” Wirskye said.

Later that day, Anthony encountered Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco. Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School, was killed during the incident.

Anthony was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison. He subsequently appealed his conviction and requested a new trial, but a Texas judge denied that request last month.

The newly disclosed evidence was not introduced during the trial because prosecutors and defense attorneys reached an agreement concerning what evidence would be presented to jurors.

Wirskye said prosecutors agreed not to use the material involving Anthony in exchange for defense attorneys agreeing not to introduce Metcalf’s juvenile criminal history.

That history included graffiti described by Wirskye as “vile racist stuff.”

The agreement meant jurors did not hear the information contained in the newly revealed documents about Anthony’s prior messages, alleged conduct and photographs involving firearms.

Following the denial of Anthony’s request for a new trial, his family has asked supporters to contribute approximately $250,000 toward the cost of his appeal.

The newly disclosed records have added information about Anthony’s behavior and communications before the 2025 killing, while his legal case continues through the appeals process.
