Miami Dolphins cheerleaders take on a massive mission to boost fan morale this season, Ric Flair update & NFL

It’s a beautiful morning in Ohio where we’re about to hit the road to drive three-hours round-trip for what we hope will be a sub-12:00 cross country race for Screencaps Jr. He’s dealing with some congestion and allergies, so we’ll see if his oxygen level hangs on.

After cross country, all eyes turn to the patio and college football as we hammer out one final beautiful August weekend soaking up summer energy. I don’t care if San Jose State gets blown out by 50 by USC, it’s football, and it will be on the patio TV. I don’t care that I know nothing about Stanford these days. I will figure out a way to have Hawaii-Stanford on the TV.

And don’t forget about Hamilton, OH attempting to do the unthinkable by making the Little League World Series championship. The U.S. Championship is today at 3:30.

Let’s hear it for the Dolphins cheerleaders who continue to apply serious pressure to the Cowboys cheerleaders for sideline supremacy in the NFL

The Miami Dolphins football team might’ve concluded an 0-3 preseason last night with a 17-12 loss. The team might have a season win total hovering between 3.5 to 4.5 at most sports books. The team might be trotting out Malik Willis as their starter this season. Yes, I’m being serious.

But, at least the Dolphins cheerleaders have their back.

Let’s face it, there are going to be home games this season where the cheerleaders are going to be some of the very few in Hard Rock Stadium that have their backs. Outside of visiting fans, it’s going to be a ghost town. Malik Willis? Are you kidding me?

There’s never been more pressure on the Dolphins cheerleaders to literally cheer up a team and fans than this season. It’s going to be brutal, but at least the weather will be great and the ladies will be cheering their hearts out.

Raising kids to be able to hold a conversation with an adult and have the ability to read the room

– Chris W. in California writes: I want to commend you for something you brought up in today’s Screencaps about how you have done what you can to make sure your son knows how to handle himself when dealing with adults, etc. out in public. It’s such a small thing but it makes such a huge difference. I work in education with troubled youth in danger of not graduating and I run a side business during the holiday season. Every year I try to hire at least one or two high school kids for their first job so they have something to put on a resume and a reference if need be.

I WORRY LESS ABOUT SCREENS THAN ABOUT THE CHALLENGES TODAY’S TEENS NEVER FACE

It is astounding how many of today’s youth simply do not know how to have anything even remotely close to a normal conversation with someone in authority or even an adult in general. The moment they have to speak to a human being that isn’t someone their age whose nose is also buried in their phone they become blank-faced, mute simpletons, barely able to more than nod or utter a few words at mouse-fart level decibels.

I have made it my mission to make sure my two teenage boys (and now I’m working on the third, a 10 year old) know how to simply converse and interact with society. They can go into a store and speak to a sales clerk and ask them questions or tell them what they need. They can sit down with almost any adult and carry on at least some level of small talk and not be remotely intimidated and my God do adults like myself respond to that. What’s sad is that when my kids order food at a restaurant or go up to the register and start chatting with the person behind the counter there’s this look of shock and dismay because my kids are looking them in the eye, they’re not chatting on their phone and then performing good old human interaction and it’s such a rarity these days.

Bravo to you and anyone else out there that makes this a priority. I don’t care how automated we get, how much machines run more and more, there is no substitute for being able to look someone in the eye, shake their hand and string a few sentences together. After all, last time I checked it’s still another human being that’s going to decide whether to hire you or not, or let you date their kid or hang out with them. At least in civilized society, which is what Screencaps Nation is all about.

– Scott K. says: Felt compelled to compliment you on how you seem to be raising Jr.  As a retired school administrator and old basketball coach (years ago), the thing I value the most in young people is how they are able to communicate with adults as they grow older.  Middle School is where this skill is cultivated, although I feel the training/teaching begins much younger.  Eye contact is a habit and skill that must be TAUGHT.  Asking intentional follow up questions is a SKILL and can be TAUGHT.  It pains me to approach young adults who aren’t capable of contributing to the conversation.  As adults, I have no clue how they will make it in the real world where it isn’t all dark rooms and video games.

Bob says I married way out of my league

– Bob K. in Florida writes: Good luck to your kid this weekend, I will be looking forward to hearing how he did. Growing up with my family in Pittsburgh, my dad and I played all sports, my big sister played basketball, but one day my little sister came home from school her freshman year and said she was going to try out for the cross-country team. We all just scratched our heads and said OK, and of course we supported her and low and behold, her sophomore year she came in 5thin the state until she tragically passed before her junior year, so I have always had a soft spot in my heart for cross country runners. Go get’em kid

Thank you for finally showing the garden, it is beautiful, my wife try’s and as they say in the south ” bless her heart ” never turns out quite like she was hoping. One thing I did notice, I did not know you were a member of the exclusive club, I could be president of this club, so you ask what club is that? It’s the married way over your head club, Mrs. Screencaps looks lovely, and out of your league, and when people see me and my wife, they just look and think, wow, this guy must be filthy rich

NFL Sunday Ticket pricing

– Drew emails: I was reading your take on the price of NFL Sunday Ticket amd I agree it is way too high. However, if you are military/veteran or first responder, you can get it for $199 through Govx.com. I have gotten it at this price last year and this year. It worth che king out to save $280. Anyway,  just wanted to pass that along. Have a good one.

Kinsey: If you’re a Verizon customer, it’s like $240 a season. I’ll probably get sucked back into signing up at that price even though I plan on watching way less 1 p.m. games this year. There’s something about having those 4 p.m. game options in November when it’s dark at 6 p.m.

Where are the Ts going this winter?

– Gen X Warren in Florida checks in: Great work as always with ScreenCaps! I was happy to see Indy Daryl write in! I was glad to see he and his family are doing well. And I understand not writing in after the passing of his father. Also, no only am I also curious about his new office setup, but if he had any running races coming up!Speaking of SC Nation legends, we haven’t heard from Beau in Toledo or Great American Verne from the NW. I hope both are doing great. Lastly, I’m curious where the T’s will be going this winter.

Kinsey: I haven’t heard from the Ts on their winter plans. Mike T. sends me stuff pretty much every single day. I’m sure he’s reading and will provide an update. As for Beau in Toledo, he’s around. He’s a wild man on Twitter. Trust me, he’s around.

As for Great American Vern in the PnW, I haven’t heard from my buddy lately, but that doesn’t mean he’s not reading. There’s a very good chance I’ll get a reply from him 40 minutes after this post goes live. He’s probably been busy fishing for salmon.
