Authorities in Memphis arrested 13 people after allegedly catching the group unloading stolen pallets of chicken from a semi-trailer, according to officials.

The chicken was valued at $250,000.

The unloading operation was taking place behind an Economy Inn, where authorities found the group with the merchandise.

Officials said the pallets were being removed from an 18-wheeler in the back parking lot.

The suspects fled after authorities arrived, but officials said every member of the group was caught.

Memphis Police later determined during the investigation that the merchandise being unloaded had been stolen.

Detectives recovered approximately $110,000 worth of stolen merchandise during the investigation.

They also recovered three firearms and what officials described as deadly drugs, including fentanyl and cocaine.

Javunte Johnson, 33, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm, according to a press release.

Authorities also executed an arrest warrant for Johnson for aggravated robbery.

Memphis Police said Johnson was among the people found unloading the stolen chicken.

He was charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000, and convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

WATCH:

Quantrivious Shavers, 25, was charged with theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.

He was also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell fentanyl.

Samuel Jackson, 38, was charged with theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.

Jackson also faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell cocaine.

Jessie Moore, 37, was arrested and charged with convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Moore was also charged with evading arrest through a foot pursuit.

Officials said Shavers and Moore were both part of the group and were charged with being felons in possession of handguns.

Officers recovered three handguns in connection with the incident.

Robert Wilson, 56, was charged with theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.

Wilson was also charged with evading arrest by automobile.

Marcellous McKinney, 38, faces the same property theft value range and was charged with evading arrest by automobile.

Several others were charged with theft involving property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.

Those defendants included John Shipp, 47, Rico Jackson, 36, and Devean Hoyle, 45.

Each was charged with theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.

Trashawn Featherson, 35, and Robert Dishmon, 40, were also charged with theft of property in the same value range.

Memphis Police identified both men among those taken into custody.

Alexis Pike, 21, was arrested and charged with evading arrest through a foot pursuit.

Pike was also charged with two counts of theft of property valued at less than $1,000.

MPD said 12 people were taken into custody and charged, while authorities reported that 13 people were arrested after the alleged chicken theft.

The investigation yielded stolen merchandise, firearms, fentanyl, and cocaine, along with the recovery of part of the chicken shipment valued at $250,000.
