Ana Navarro Pushes Back on Hunter Biden’s Claim of Trump is ‘Already’ a ‘Dictator’ [WATCH]

“The View” cohost Ana Navarro pushed back after Hunter Biden declared that President Donald Trump is already a dictator. The exchange came during the second half of a two-part interview released Monday on Navarro’s podcast, “Bleep! with Ana Navarro.”

As Fox News reported, Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, argued that the United States has already lost its democracy under Trump. He said that was the case regardless of who wins the midterm elections.

“He is a dictator … in no uncertain terms,” Biden said. “Everybody understands this. He has broken the system. It is gone. It is completely broken.”

Biden pointed to confirmation hearings for Trump’s former personal attorney and accused the president of using his office against journalists.

He also raised the federal prosecution of Don Lemon following Lemon’s coverage of a protest that disrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Trump’s former personal attorney and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was confirmed as attorney general earlier this month.

Lemon has pleaded not guilty to federal civil rights charges stemming from his coverage of the protest and maintains that he was there as a journalist.

“He goes on Air Force One, and he gets a question that he doesn’t like, and he looks at a veteran woman reporter and tells her to ‘Be quiet, piggy,’ and no one says anything,” Biden added.

“We have lost our democracy at this point.”

“Can you imagine if your father had ever done that?” Navarro asked. However, she did not agree with Biden’s declaration that Trump was already a dictator, instead saying that he “would like to be.”

Navarro explained that her own experience shaped her view of the term.

“I fled dictatorship,” she said, noting that she fled the Sandinistas in 1980 and now lives in Miami among Cuban American, Venezuelan American and Haitian American exiles.

“I think he definitely would like to be a dictator and have no guardrails, have no pushback,” Navarro said. Even so, she pointed to the courts, elections and the press as institutions that remain in place.

“I still have some hope in some of the courts. And I think we still have elections. And despite the fact that there’s threats against the free press, we still do have the free press.”

Navarro argued that a larger concern was the lack of congressional oversight from Republicans to balance Trump’s power.

She also questioned whether Democrats would make a meaningful difference if they retook the House and Senate.

“I don’t know that they have the stomach to do some of the s— that Republicans do without any qualms,” Navarro said. Her measured response differed sharply from some of her earlier descriptions of Trump and his conduct.

During a speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Navarro compared Trump with several communist dictators.

She discussed attacks on the free press, government jobs given to relatives and refusals to accept legitimate election losses.

“Let me tell you what communist dictators do, and it’s never just for one day,” Navarro said during that speech. “They attack the free press. They call them the enemy of the people like Ortega does in Nicaragua.”

Navarro continued by referencing the Castros in Cuba and Maduro in Venezuela before asking whether those actions sounded familiar.

“Is there anybody running for president who reminds you of that?” she asked the convention audience.

As recently as May, Navarro again used dictatorial language while discussing Trump on “The View.”

She called him a “wannabe dictator” or said he had “small dictator energy” after a golden statue of Trump was installed at Trump National Doral golf course following the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship.

Fox News Digital contacted Navarro for comment but did not immediately receive a response. The White House, meanwhile, rejected Hunter Biden’s claim that Trump was a dictator.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle also mocked Biden in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

“Just like sleepy Joe, Hunter Biden’s brains are fried potatoes. We wish him and his family well during this difficult time,” Ingle said.
