President Donald Trump has secured agreements with nine additional pharmaceutical companies to reduce prescription drug prices for American patients.

The expansion advances a signature affordability campaign that the White House says now covers nearly 90 percent of the branded drug market.

The latest participants are Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and UCB.

Trump announced the agreements Monday from the Oval Office while surrounded by pharmaceutical executives.

Trump framed the announcement as another breakthrough after years of Washington promises.

“I’m thrilled to announce a major expansion of one of our signature affordability initiatives, something that people have been trying to get for years, for decades, and I’m not even sure that other presidents tried,” Trump said.

The president then delivered the central promise behind the new agreements.

“Nine new pharmaceutical companies are committing to deliver their lowest drug prices for American patients,” he added.

The agreements will give every state Medicaid program access to most favored nation prices for products sold by the nine companies.

The White House projects the arrangement will save Americans billions of dollars, putting actual savings ahead of the usual swamp routine of hearings, speeches, and excuses.

According to the White House, the reduced costs will apply “ on drugs that treat numerous costly, chronic, and even rare diseases, including hemophilia, Parkinson’s disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, liver disease, skin conditions, and various forms of cancer ,” offering relief across a broad range of medical needs.

The companies also agreed that newly launched innovative medicines will receive most favored nation pricing.

That commitment is particularly significant because breakthrough treatments can arrive with price tags that place them beyond the reach of many patients and state health programs.

This latest round represents the eighteenth through twenty sixth most favored nation agreements Trump has secured since last fall.

With nearly 90 percent of the branded medicine market now included, the initiative has moved well beyond a symbolic announcement and into an industry wide pricing strategy.

The agreements contain a major domestic manufacturing component as well.

The nine companies have committed to invest a combined $19.6 billion in United States manufacturing, strengthening production capacity while reducing American dependence on foreign supply chains.

Several companies will also donate large quantities of crucial pharmaceutical ingredients to the Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve, known as SAPIR.

The reserve is intended to protect access to essential medicines when emergencies, global disruptions, or foreign pressure threaten supplies.

UCB will contribute 163 tons of levetiracetam, an anticonvulsant used to control and prevent certain seizures.

That sizable contribution will provide the reserve with an important ingredient relied upon by patients managing serious neurological conditions.

Sun Pharma will contribute 71.4 tons of clindamycin and 6.75 tons of doxycycline.

Both are antibiotics used against bacterial infections, making them valuable additions to a strategic reserve designed for moments when dependable access matters most.

Teva Pharmaceuticals will supply 45 metric tons of metronidazole, which treats certain bacterial and parasitic infections.

The company will also provide 4.8 tons of amlodipine, a widely used medicine for treating high blood pressure.

Astellas will contribute 25 kilograms of tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection following transplants.

For patients who depend on a steady supply of that medicine, domestic reserves are not an abstract policy debate but a genuine medical necessity.

Other companies that previously reached most favored nation agreements include AstraZeneca, EMD Serono, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, GSK, Merck, Novartis, Regeneron, Sanofi, Johnson & Johnson, and AbbVie.
