A 38-year-old Florida man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he chased three AT&T door-to-door solicitors through a Brandon neighborhood, threatened to kill them, and opened fire on one of the workers until his ammunition was exhausted, as reported by The New York Post.

The incident occurred after nightfall on Feb. 18 at the Providence Townhomes in Brandon, Florida. According to reports, Reginald McGee encountered two women and one man who were canvassing the community on behalf of AT&T.

Authorities allege McGee began taunting the trio before pursuing them down the block. During the chase, he allegedly shouted, “Where are you!” and “I’m going to kill you!”, according to WFLA.

Investigators say McGee then pulled a firearm from his waistband and began firing at the male solicitor. WFLA reported that he continued shooting until his clip was empty.

Surveillance footage later obtained by police captured the audio of the confrontation. The recording included at least 10 gunshots, along with the terrified screams of the two female solicitors and pleas for the shooting to stop.

When deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, they located the wounded male victim propped against the stoop of a townhouse.

According to police body camera footage, the victim was bleeding but remained conscious and was able to provide officers with a limited description of the suspect.

Three responding deputies immediately ran in the direction they believed the suspect had fled. A short distance away, they found McGee near his residence.

Body camera footage showed him lying flat on the ground with both hands raised in surrender.

TAMPA, FL — A Brandon man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after firing nine shots at a door-to-door AT&T solicitor Wednesday night, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister addressed the incident in a public statement.

“This was a completely unnecessary escalation that left a man seriously injured simply for doing his job. When a disagreement turns into gunfire, that is a choice, and it is a criminal one. Our deputies acted quickly to take this suspect into custody, giving residents in this neighborhood peace of mind and preventing further harm,” Chronister said.

According to WFLA, McGee initially claimed he acted in self-defense. However, authorities said he later admitted to chasing the salespeople and firing at them.

The injured solicitor was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his leg, calf, and foot, police said.

McGee was booked into custody on charges of discharging a firearm in public, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and attempted second-degree murder.

The Providence Townhomes community remained shaken following the shooting, which unfolded as residents went about their evening. Authorities did not report any additional injuries connected to the incident.
