The GOP suffered a terrible loss in Virginia on Tuesday, but as the skies clear, there appears to be good news for their midterm fears.
Virginia voters approved a Democratic-backed constitutional amendment to allow the state legislature to redraw congressional districts for the remainder of the decade, bypassing the bipartisan redistricting commission. The measure passed 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent, with Democrats coming out on top. The outcome gives Democrats a potential path to flip as many as four Republican-held seats in Virginia’s 11-member U.S. House delegation, shifting the current 6-5 Democratic edge toward a 10-1 advantage.
