Border Czar Tom Homan sharply criticized members of Congress who have called for abolishing the Department of Homeland Security, arguing that lawmakers are attacking the very agencies responsible for enforcing immigration laws they passed.
“Think about this,” Homan said. “Members of Congress want to abolish the Department of Homeland Security that was established after the tragedy 911 right, and they want to abolish the agency that enforces the laws that they wrote, right.”
Homan said those same lawmakers have labeled immigration enforcement officers in extreme terms. “But they want to tackle some call them racists and Nazis and the secret police well for the Nazis for enforcing immigration law, what’s that make them?” he said. “They wrote the law.”

Homan pointed to his own background in immigration enforcement to frame his argument. “So look, we’re going to four,” he said. “We’re doing the same thing we’ve done for 40 years.”
“I started in 1984,” Homan continued. “We’re enforcing the immigration law.”
According to Homan, the difference in recent years was not the law itself but how it was applied. “Problem is, for the last four years, they weren’t enforcing immigration law,” he said.
He argued that members of Congress failed to object during what he described as an unprecedented surge at the southern border. “Every one of them are complicit,” Homan said. “So they didn’t say anything about the open border.”

Homan cited figures related to illegal crossings. “Over 10 million people illegally across that border,” he said. “We got over what 2 million known gotaways.”
He also referenced national security concerns. “We got a record number of terrorists and criminals come across that border,” Homan said.
Homan raised concerns about trafficking. “A record number of sex trafficking on women and children,” he added.
He further tied border enforcement to the ongoing fentanyl crisis. “Enough fentanyl killed a quarter million Americans,” Homan said.
In addition to criminal activity and drug trafficking, Homan highlighted migrant fatalities. “Over 4000 aliens died making that journey,” he said.
He questioned the response from critics during that period. “And where were they?” Homan asked. “They weren’t saying a word.”
Homan concluded by stating that current enforcement efforts are focused on reversing prior inaction. “They’re complicit,” he said.
“We’re fixing what they broke.”
