James Comey: It Couldn’t Happen to a Nicer Guy

I am no lawyer, but in my uneducated judgment, it is quite likely that Jonathan Turley is quite right that the James Comey indictment is almost certainly junk that will fall apart under scrutiny. 

And, to be far more fair, if this happened to anybody else, conservative or liberal, I would cheer when it fell to a challenge. There is zero doubt that this is politically motivated. After all, Gretchen Whitmer has an 86 47 sign in her office. Democrats around the country have similar signs, or much worse, and have escaped indictment.

And I won’t weep when it is dismissed, but I would be happy if they could convict Comey of just about any real crime. Because I think harassing James Comey is exactly the right thing to do. 

Democrats have been committing far worse lawfare against Donald Trump and his allies for the past decade, and in a much worse fashion. James Comey was a gleeful participant in that effort, and broke many laws doing so. 

Deterrence requires striking back, especially since Democrats are promising even worse lawfare if and when they get back in power.

It’s now common for Democrats to collect the names of federal employees and Republicans they intend to jail when they have the opportunity, and use such promises in campaigns. Seth Moulton wants Pete Hegseth executed, and openly says so on CNN. President Trump was harassed for years by false accusations in Crossfire Hurricane, as James Comey knew that it was entirely made up. 

He has gone on national TV to spread lies, run a department that lied to the courts, made up falsehoods to open investigations, leaked falsehoods to the press, and pushed an impeachment process that came crashing down as the evidence came out.

Comey is total scum, and the reason why I approve of obvious lawfare against him is that only the threat of tit-for-tat will stop this steady stream of abuses of power.

Republicans have unilaterally disarmed, and as a consequence, the Democrats have gone into “Maximum Warfare Everywhere All the Time,” as Hakeem Jeffries put it himself.

We got the message. President Trump certainly got that message from all the bullets that fly his way. Politicians have run for office promising to jail Donald Trump, without there even being a crime they can point to. Show me the man, I’ll show you the crime. That’s Stalinism.

James Comey is the perfect target because he has led the charge over the past decade, trying to derail his candidacy and his presidency, and being quite open about his desire to get the president by any means necessary, and go after his supporters as well. 

Turnabout is not just fair play. In “maximum warfare,” to use the Democrats’ term, it is the only way to deter.

If Comey were still vulnerable to charges of perjury, I would love to see him in jail. He deserves it. He broke the law in any number of ways, and provably so. He has even admitted as much, approving leaks of classified information. But he is no likely vulnerable to any legitimate charges, so he needs to pay the price using the means he used for so many years.

Whatever you think of President Trump, you should be appalled by the fact that his opponents have warped the power of the federal government to attack a political opponent. Unfortunately, most Democrats aren’t, just as they are not bothered by the fact that the Democratic Party is basically a crime syndicate.

They will complain bitterly that Comey is getting treated unfairly, and my response is the same as any president with his finger on the nuclear button: there is only one way to deter nuclear aggression, which “Maximum Warfare” amounts to in the political world: you nuke us, we nuke you back.
