Rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on allegations of drug trafficking.

The 28-year-old artist, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked into the Orange County Corrections Department on charges of trafficking MDMA.

Page Six confirmed the arrest and obtained the rapper’s mugshot, which showed him appearing serious.

Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, said the rapper’s detention was a “coordinated surrender” linked to a case dating back to November 2025. That case involved law enforcement officers searching a vehicle that Kodak was not present in.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

During the search, Cohen stated, an officer found a bag containing a bottle of prescription cough syrup that allegedly bore Kodak’s fingerprint. He argued that the evidence did not meet the legal requirements to press possession charges.

“This is a case where the law is not sufficient to charge possession of the item,” Cohen explained. “Then instead of simple possession, they doubled down and filed it as a trafficking charge.”

Cohen said he plans to contest the drug trafficking charge, calling it weakly supported. “We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed,” he said.

Authorities also found $37,000 in cash inside the vehicle, along with numerous documents under the name Bill Kapri, according to TMZ.

The outlet reported that law enforcement claimed the bag seen in the vehicle appeared identical to one shown in a recent photo on Kodak’s Instagram account.

Investigators also found a distinctive gun-shaped lighter in the same bag, which officers said looked similar to one Kodak had displayed in the past on social media.

Kodak has faced multiple arrests over the years. His previous charges have included armed robbery, false imprisonment, weapons possession, and sexual assault.

In March 2020, the rapper pleaded guilty to firearms possession and served time in federal prison. His sentence was later commuted by President Donald Trump in June of the same year.

In January 2022, Kodak was arrested again for trespassing in his hometown of Pompano Beach, Florida. Just weeks later, he pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and battery and was sentenced to 18 months of probation.

The rapper’s battles with substance use have also been public. Following an arrest in December 2023 for cocaine possession in Plantation, Florida, Kodak spoke openly about his drug use.

“I’ll tell God himself I do Percs and s–t like that, but them was my medicine prescribed to me,” he said during a livestream, explaining that his prescription came after being shot in the leg in February 2022.

He admitted that his drug use had escalated over time, saying, “Even before I got shot and I had got prescribed to them again, I could say that I had started damn abusing.”

Kodak also shared that he took steps to improve his health after the December 2023 incident. “I’m working on myself. I’m working right now, homie,” he said.

“I paid $350,000 and s–t to get clean and get better. I’ve done went to rehab by myself without the court having to tell me to do that. Just me wanting to better myself.”

As a father of five, Kodak emphasized his motivation to change, adding, “I got children, homie, and I have to be here for them. I never have enough time on the streets to even be no junkie.”
