Yesterday I wrote about the forthcoming Elon Musk “documentary” which aims to paint Musk as a con man with no real achievements who is, nevertheless, a threat to democracy. It’s a four-hour hit-piece which uses an AI version of Musk to introduce quotes out of context.
As I said yesterday, the Left used to collectively love Musk but ever since he began supporting Trump he’s become public enemy #2 and this forthcoming film is just the latest example.
The general anti-Musk tone has been playing out in the media for a long time. Yesterday ABC News gave a great example with a tweet about a crash that happened in New York City. Their tweet read, “A Tesla crashed into scaffolding in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning, killing the vehicle’s passenger and sending the driver to the hospital, according to police.”
I can’t show you the original tweet because ABC has since deleted it but screenshots did get saved by a few people.
Delete this crap. You wouldn’t say shit if it was a Subaru. pic.twitter.com/KdmSGNmT7b

As you can see, before it was deleted there was a community note pointing out that there was a lot more to this story. Even the ABC report got around to the facts eventually.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that a gray 2024 Tesla Model Y SUV driven by a 27-year-old female collided with scaffolding, a bus stop and a mailbox at approximately 2:43 a.m. on Wednesday, a New York Police Department spokesperson told ABC News…
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Alejandra Paharsingh of Westbury, Connecticut, was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving while impaired, according to New York ABC station WABC…
The driver was traveling eastbound on East 42nd Street and failed to navigate the roadway, police said earlier.
So what actually happened here is that a drunk driver was speeding along at 3 AM and crashed into a series of obstacles then tried to flee the scene on foot. Later reports revealed just how drunk she was at the time.
The Tesla driver accused of killing her friend in a drunken crash in Midtown was so intoxicated that she doesn’t remember getting behind the wheel, prosecutors said Thursday.
Alejandra Paharsingh, 27, had a blood alcohol level of .229 when she crashed into scaffolding near East 42nd Street and Second Avenue at around 3 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
The legal limit in New York is 0.08 percent, so she was more than three times over the limit. She was so drunk she doesn’t remember getting into the car. But witnesses said she came close to killing someone else.
“She takes off and starts going eastbound, accelerates, and goes right into scaffolding. I tried to be a concerned citizen and chase her and maintain my distance. I saw a sanitation worker almost get hit; he was pretty startled,” Greg told PIX11 News.
The witness said responding police had placed the driver in handcuffs while assessing the scene and attending to the passenger, but the driver tried to escape.
“While she was already handcuffed, she tried taking off across the street,” Greg said.
What does any of this have to do with Tesla? Absolutely nothing. Even Gov. Ron DeSantis pointed out how reckless this reporting was.
Did the Tesla crash by itself or did the driver crash the car? Obviously it was the latter but ABC News is dedicated as usual to lying for clicks and narrative promotion purposes. https://t.co/pblyGd14bm

ABC eventually deleted the tweet suggesting the car, rather than the drunk driver, was responsible but doesn’t seem to have issued any statement about why they deleted it. Disappointingly, the NY Post’s first tweet about this crash wasn’t much better.

Again, what does the make of car have to do with a drunk driver who was three times over the limit? Have you ever seen a comparable story about an out-of-control Ford or Chevy? Probably not.
Oh I see how it is, @ABC only reports the make of the car in a crash when it’s a Tesla (the driver was operating the Tesla manually btw). https://t.co/hCz848hCqa pic.twitter.com/05I7zMU8Vs

But when the car is a Tesla that gets into the headline as if the brand itself was somehow responsible. It’s hard to avoid the conclusion that this has something to do with the fact that Elon Musk owns Tesla and most journalists are progressives who hate Elon Musk.
Why are you misleading the public? pic.twitter.com/Ieb2YTQL0z

Expect to see a lot more of this sort of thing now that Musk is contributing money for the midterms.
