Reform UK leader Nigel Farage alleged a petrol bomb was shoved through his letterbox in early 2025 during a Wednesday interview.

Farage told The Telegraph that he was away when the device ignited inside his porch but saw the aftermath. He said police probed the incident but haven’t named any suspects. The Clacton MP also said he accepted a personal gift to cover his protection costs. Reports of him receiving such a gift have sparked backlash from opposing parties in the UK.

“It was an outright arson attempt. I wasn’t at home at the time, but when I came back and opened the door I found the damage,” Farage told the outlet. “Luckily, it had burned itself out in the porch, and we think maybe the perpetrators were disturbed in the act. The police were all over it. They did their best but there are no suspects so far.”

He said he stayed quiet about the incident out of concern that going public would force him to ratchet up his already strained security arrangements. (RELATED: Trump Tells British Newspaper He’s ‘Very Disappointed’ In PM Keir Starmer)

“Sometimes things happen when there are cameras there, but there are plenty of times when things don’t make the news, like pints of beer being thrown over me or the attack on my home,” Farage told The Telegraph. “I also had to write off a car once because it was attacked by protesters when I was in it.” A woman who doused him with a McDonald’s milkshake during the 2024 general election campaign in Clacton received only a suspended prison sentence, according to GBNews.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Nigel Farage has revealed he was the victim of a firebombing attack at his home, as he admitted he would never be able to take his personal safety for granted.

Farage said he received roughly £5 million from billionaire Christopher Harborne, who resides in Thailand, in early 2024 to pay for his security, according to the outlet. The MP also said he sought state-funded security through the Home Office but was turned down and praised Harborne. “I’m very much on my own and will be for the rest of my life, and I have to face up to that grim reality. Christopher is an ardent supporter who is deeply concerned for my safety,” he said. “This money was given to me so that I would be safe and secure for the rest of my life.”

Farage alleged someone obtained access to his private finances in what he suspected was an illegal act, according to the outlet. The MP said he originally became worried over his safety when he became “surrounded by a mob outside the Scottish Parliament” in 2013, alleging that matters have “deteriorated since the rabid Left decided that violence is acceptable.”

He also alleged to the Telegraph that online threats encouraging violence against him have been reported to police repeatedly with no meaningful response.

Farage said he received a “reasonable level of protection” after winning his seat in 2024. Reform said his security was cut following a review by British Parliament authorities, The Standard reported. Money provided as a gift is not subject to taxation, according to The Telegraph.

The Conservatives and Labour alleged the MP violated the rules in the House of Commons by not revealing it via the register of interests, according to the BBC. The Conservatives said they referred Farage to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, and Labour also accused him of failing to declare the gift in his register of interests. A spokesperson for Reform rejected the accusation, calling the money a personal and unconditional gift made before Farage won his seat.

Newly elected MPs “must register all their current financial interests, and any registrable benefits (other than earnings) received in the 12 months before their election within one month of their election,” the Commons code of conduct reads, according to the BBC.

Farage, who is campaigning ahead of May 7 local elections, told BBC Radio Wiltshire that escalating threats risk scaring capable people away from public service altogether.

The Daily Caller reached out to UK Metro Police for comment.
