Ohio Felon Punches Bailiff in Throat, Attacks Deputies in Wild Courthouse Escape Bid [WATCH]

A 20 year old felon unleashed chaos inside an Ohio courthouse after receiving a one year prison sentence, punching a bailiff in the throat and attacking deputies during a frantic attempt to escape, according to reports and video of the incident.

Timothy J. Reaggle was being escorted through a hallway at Columbiana County Court on Monday when the violent episode erupted.

WKBN reported that Reaggle had just learned he would spend a year in prison in connection with a separate case.

Video from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office showed a bailiff walking behind Reaggle as the prisoner moved down the hallway. Reaggle then suddenly broke free of his handcuffs, turned around and struck the bailiff directly in the throat.

After attacking the bailiff, Reaggle sprinted through the courthouse in a desperate bid to avoid prison.

His attempted escape quickly placed more law enforcement officers in danger as they moved to stop him.

The footage showed Reaggle lowering his shoulder and plowing into another deputy.

The impact knocked the deputy to the ground, but Reaggle kept moving and headed toward a stairwell while an officer pursued him.

Reaggle stumbled when he reached the bottom of the stairs and fell directly into the arms of another deputy. Even that encounter did not end the escape attempt, as Reaggle wriggled free and again took off.

He then bolted toward the courthouse’s front door, continuing his race for freedom.

An officer fired a Taser from behind, stopping the dash before Reaggle could make it out of the building.

Three officers quickly pounced on Reaggle following the Taser deployment.

One officer appeared to place him in a chokehold as the group brought him under control and detained him.

The video also captured the aftermath for the officers injured during the courthouse mayhem.

People rushed to help the deputies, and one injured officer was later seen lying on the floor while bleeding from the head.

That officer held a paper towel against his face as others gathered nearby.

The footage offered a grim look at the damage caused by an escape bid that unfolded only moments after Reaggle’s sentencing.

Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin told WFMJ that both deputies suffered broken bones during the attack.

Both were treated at a hospital and have since been released, according to the sheriff.

Reaggle is now being held at the Columbiana County Jail, McLaughlin said.

He will eventually be transported to state prison, meaning the courthouse sprint did not spare him from the sentence that apparently triggered the attempted getaway.

No charges had yet been filed against Reaggle in connection with Monday’s courthouse incident.

McLaughlin told the outlet that Reaggle will likely face a charge of assault on a police officer as well as a felony escape charge.

The case that brought Reaggle to court stemmed from an incident in February 2025.

According to court records, he allegedly entered a home while three residents were inside and then assaulted them or threatened to harm them.

Reaggle was also charged with aggravated menacing after allegedly causing one resident to fear serious harm to himself or his property.

He additionally faced a charge for fleeing police in a vehicle after officers signaled for him to stop.

On July 13, Reaggle withdrew his previous not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and two counts of assault.

Several of those offenses had been reduced from the original charges.
