President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, stating that the United States would take military action if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours.

“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!” Trump declared in a post on Truth Social.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

The statement comes amid rising tensions in the region following reported disruptions to commercial shipping and attacks on infrastructure throughout the Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global transit point for oil and gas shipments, making any interference with passage through the waterway a matter of international concern.

Multiple countries have issued statements addressing the situation.

According to reporting by Breitbart News’s Kurt Zindulka, more than 20 nations released a joint statement condemning actions attributed to Iran involving civilian shipping and regional energy infrastructure.

In a joint statement released on Saturday morning, the nations of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, United Arabia Emirates, and the United Kingdom condemned in the “strongest terms” the recent attacks by Iran against unarmed, civilian shipping vessels, its attacks on oil and gas infrastructure throughout the Gulf, and its move to shut down traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

“We express our deep concern about the escalating conflict. We call on Iran to cease immediately its threats, laying of mines, drone and missile attacks and other attempts to block the Strait to commercial shipping, and to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817,” the group of nations said.

The joint statement reflects growing international pressure on Iran as countries seek to maintain open access to the strait.

The waterway is one of the most strategically important maritime routes in the world, and disruptions to its use can affect global energy markets and shipping operations.

An Iranian leader previously indicated that lawmakers in Iran’s parliament are pursuing a plan that would require countries to pay tolls and taxes to use the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposal, if implemented, would mark a significant shift in how access to the waterway is regulated.
