I couldn’t begin to tell you when this got to be a thing – first the gathering of progressive signatures for ‘lists’ denouncing whatever a Republican (usually a president, but not always) was doing or proposed to do. And now it’s become this compulsive list-length-measuring contest of the number of signatories on one’s bitchy little scribbles.

As in, so-and-so got fifteen reportedly prominent whatevers to sign their anti-whatever screed, so yours had better beat that to prove how serious your objections are, besides being an underhanded way of quantifying how much more important your contacts are than theirs.

And voilá! After a bit of obsequious networking, your letter to the, say, New York Times now has twenty-five notable attached!

In my head, I always see the numbers and subconsciously hear Michael Palin’s voice, ‘Oh, very nice. Very nice, INDEED.’

We’ve seen loads of them signed by celebrities over the years, protesting everything from what seemed like toilet paper to trans rights to anti-Israel, and every Republican issue in between. Those are a dime a dozen, and in actuality, much preferred to celebrities running their mouths at every possible opportunity.

I keep thinking the vacuum created when they all simultaneously open their yaps will suck all living matter in to fill the void.

Nah. I’m talking about people who, before the modern age of social media and the extensive reach of news media, used to be known as ‘experts,’ and maybe you read a piece they wrote once in a while, or perhaps only heard their name in a passing reference at a hearing of some sort.

The first one that really stuck in my memory banks was the infamous letter that was orchestrated by John Brennan, signed, as you remember, by ‘51 former intelligence officials‘ as if that couldn’t possibly ever mean they weren’t all a lying pack of operatives. Come on, right?

…We are all individuals who devoted significant portions of our lives to national security.  Some of us served in senior positions in policy departments and agencies, and some of us served in senior positions in the Intelligence Community.  Some of us were political appointees, and some were career officials.  Many of us worked for the presidents of both political parties.

There were FIFTY ONE! And they were ‘deeply suspicious.‘

More than 50 former senior intelligence officials have signed on to a letter outlining their belief that the recent disclosure of emails allegedly belonging to Joe Biden’s son “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

The letter, signed on Monday, centers around a batch of documents released by the New York Post last week that purport to tie the Democratic nominee to his son Hunter’s business dealings. Under the banner headline “Biden Secret E-mails,” the Post reported it was given a copy of Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive by President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who said he got it from a Mac shop owner in Delaware who also alerted the FBI.

While the letter’s signatories presented no new evidence, they said their national security experience had made them “deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case” and cited several elements of the story that suggested the Kremlin’s hand at work.

“If we are right,” they added, “this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.”

Yeah? This ‘deep suspicion’ suddenly occurred to all these prominent individuals as they slept?

Turns out, it kind of didn’t. The fact that all these signatories needed a Winkin’ Blinken nudge to realize how concerned they were about ‘Russians’ sort of takes the starch right out of their concerns.

A former CIA official testified that then-Biden campaign senior adviser, now-Secretary of State Antony Blinken “played a role in the inception” of the public statement signed by current and past intelligence officials that claimed the Hunter Biden laptop was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell testified before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, and revealed that Blinken was “the impetus” of the public statement signed in October 2020 that implied the laptop belonging to Hunter Biden was disinformation.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, sent a letter to Blinken Thursday, notifying him that the panels are “conducting oversight of federal law-enforcement and intelligence matters within our respective jurisdictions.”

“We are examining that public statement signed by 51 former intelligence officials that falsely discredited a New York Post story regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop as supposed Russian disinformation,” they wrote. “As part of our oversight, we have learned that you played a role in the inception of this statement while serving as a Biden campaign advisor, and we therefore request your assistance with our oversight.”

And how’s that going for ringleader Brennan now?

We were all ‘deeply suspicious’ of him, remember?

Witnesses in criminal probe of ex-CIA Director Brennan subpoenaed to testify before grand jury

Former senior intelligence and FBI officials who are cooperating with the U.S. Justice Department’s criminal probe into whether former CIA Director John Brennan lied to Congress were subpoenaed over the weekend to testify before a grand jury in Washington, D.C., multiple sources familiar with the matter told CBS News.

The subpoenas went out shortly after the Justice Department appointed conservative Trump ally Joe DiGenova to formally take over the criminal investigation into Brennan after the career prosecutor handling the case was removed late last week, CBS previously reported.

DiGenova is a staunch loyalist of President Trump who previously represented his campaign in its failed efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The cooperating witnesses are scheduled to appear before the grand jury as soon as this week, sources said. Many of them have been cooperating with the probe and were already scheduled to sit down for interviews with FBI agents and prosecutors before the new grand jury subpoenas came out over the weekend.

You know, maybe if they had had what? Fifty-two? Perhaps Brennan could have pulled it off.

Here’s a hot protest number:

Over 250 journalists demand reporters ‘forcefully’ protest Trump at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Oh, wow, right? I mean, that’s a LOT…of nothin’ new. The WHITE HOUSE Correspondents Association doesn’t want the WHITE HOUSE occupant at its dinner. So twohunnertfitty of the big babies wrote a hissy, pissy letter (well, ‘journalists,’ right).

Forget covering protests — some reporters think they should be the ones making the ruckus.

A group of over 250 journalists implored members of the Beltway press corps to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to President Trump at the ritzy White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.

Trump, 79, is set to attend the swanky dinner for the first time in his presidency. But the group of 250 reporters is demanding that the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) ensure he doesn’t feel welcome.

“We believe the White House Correspondents Association should take stronger action by issuing — from the podium — a forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment,” the letter to members of the WHCA said.

Did you know they’re now trying to use an online petition signed by 30,000 people (!) (right?) to get Kash Patel investigated after The Atlantic’s already disintegrating hit job?

Thousands Demand Kash Patel Face Investigation in Online Petition

Nearly 30,000 people have signed a petition calling for an investigation into FBI Director Kash Patel, following a series of reports questioning his conduct, use of government resources, and ability to lead the bureau.

The MoveOn petition, which continues to gain signatures, reflects growing public scrutiny after recent media investigations and past controversies involving Patel’s leadership.

*yawn*

Another list touting numbers has popped up, regarding Senator Evil Dobby, aka Mark Kelly. This loathsome creature, recently seen claiming some of the Artemis II triumph’s glory even as he conveniently forgot he voted against funding NASA, spent quality time last week waxing poetic about how white men do not belong in space, unless the one white male was his slick domed self, naturally.

Again, forgetting he was the commander of a space shuttle full of Caucasians once upon a time.

Odd for Mark Kelly to say that given that he commanded a Space Shuttle crew in 2011 made up of six white men. pic.twitter.com/z8BtVhqqCx

But that wasn’t why Evil Dobby required a supportive list to be manufactured in his defense. That had to do with this disgraceful episode, where the forgetful retired Naval officer ran his mouth on camera in a way contrary to good order and discipline for purely political reasons.

Six days later. November 18.

Six Democratic members of Congress — all military veterans — release a video telling active-duty troops:

“You MUST refuse illegal orders.” pic.twitter.com/P5iQ2LFQQS

They got what they wanted when it came to fireworks and Kelly, as a retired officer, was the one individual vulnerable to Department of War disciplinary action.

The administration took the bait. Exactly as the playbook predicted.

Trump called them “traitors” and threatened death. Hegseth opened a Pentagon investigation. Grand jury convened under 18 USC 2387… sedition. It failed. pic.twitter.com/xgXmqde6fB

And don’t you know, the itemized list of military lesser lights (which includes such ‘lethality’ advocates as the former Secretary of the Army, Christine Wormuth, who fought to rid her service of ‘the warrior caste’) willing to defend this miserable POS, appears immediately.

73 Military Veterans, including 17 4-Stars, Defend Sen. Mark Kelly in Legal Fight

OH, VERY NICE – VERY NICE, INDEED!

Seventy-three former U.S. admirals, generals and service secretaries have submitted a legal filing in defense of retired Navy Capt. and Sen. Mark Kelly, who has battled the Trump administration for months due to a controversial video that spiraled into court battles.

Kelly and a handful of other Democratic military veterans made and released a video in November 2025 reinforcing active-duty service members of their constitutional right “to refuse illegal orders.” It sparked a contentious back-and-forth between Kelly, a retired Navy captain and astronaut, and the Trump administration, extending into legal battles.

The 39-page amicus brief filed Friday morning was signed by retired senior military officers and secretaries of the Air Force, Army and Navy who are described as possessing extensive experience in leadership roles along with a demonstrated commitment to, and expertise in, promoting a disciplined and strong military and ensuring the security of the nation.

They collectively served under each president, from Dwight Eisenhower to Donald Trump, and include 17 4-star signatories.

That’s more than Hunter Biden, so SCORE for Evil Dobby.

But I have had it with progressives rolling out ‘expert’ endorsements with increasing magnitudes of signatories to persuade me that such signifies the issue or individual they are advocating for (or against) deserves one second of my attention.

This guy deserves something, but this is a family site.

Well, 76 trombones called Kelly a ‘big charade,’ with a 110 cornets saying he’s a ‘miserable, bald-headed, self-aggrandizing, opportunistic POS’ and a ‘jackass’s behind’

Nope.

No more lists.
