Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s children Jake Reiner and Romy Reiner testified before the grand jury that indicted their brother, Nick Reiner, in connection with the murders of their parents, as reported by Page Six.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to People on Wednesday that Nick’s siblings appeared before the jury. However, the content of Jake and Romy’s testimony is not currently known.

A representative for the Reiner family did not immediately respond when Page Six requested comment about the siblings and their involvement in the grand jury proceedings.

Page Six obtained the unsealed indictment on Aug. 12. That same day, Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder by means of lying in wait.

The allegation involving lying in wait means the 32-year-old could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty. His murder case is continuing through the court system.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 15, nine months after Rob and Michele were slain inside their home. Rob was 78, while Michele was 70.

The couple married in 1989. According to their December 2025 death certificates, both Rob and Michele died of “multiple sharp force injuries.”

Nick was arrested within hours of the killings. He remains behind bars at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles while awaiting trial.

Authorities initially charged Nick with two counts of first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty to those charges in February and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

Jake, 35, and Romy, 28, addressed the deaths of their parents in a statement released days after the killings.

They described what happened as a “horrific and devastating loss,” but did not mention Nick in the statement.

Jake later wrote about the tragedy in an April essay published on Substack. In the essay, he noted that Nick was “at the center” of what happened to their family.

Nick has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and has struggled with drug addiction. Jake also described the extent of the family’s loss and the difficulty of processing the violence surrounding it.

“We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable. It’s almost too impossible to process,” Jake wrote in the essay.

Romy has not yet publicly discussed the tragedy in detail. Earlier this month, however, she joined Jake in honoring their late mother and father at a Los Angeles Dodgers game.

The siblings paid tribute to Rob and Michele by throwing the first pitch at the game. Their appearance came as the criminal case against Nick remained ongoing.

Nick was most recently in court on Aug. 17 over his request to access his $1.5 million trust. He sought the money to pay court fees and purchase commissary items while incarcerated.

Nick has spent $200,000 on legal bills so far. However, trustees blocked his effort to obtain access to the trust, with the financial steward citing the “slayer statute.”

The statute prevents a “person who feloniously and intentionally kills the decedent” from receiving “property, interest, or benefit under a will of the decedent, or a trust created by or for the benefit of the decedent.”

Nick’s lawyer challenged the attempt to use the statute while the murder case remains unresolved. The attorney emphasized that Nick has entered not guilty pleas and has not been convicted.

“The slayer statute requires a determination, not a mere accusation. Nick is presumed innocent and has been convicted of nothing,” Nick’s lawyer said.

The Sept. 15 pretrial hearing will follow the indictment and Nick’s Aug. 12 not guilty pleas. Meanwhile, Jake and Romy’s testimony before the grand jury remains undisclosed.
