Sheryl Crow opened up about a deeply personal moment from her past, recalling how she discovered that her former fiancé, Lance Armstrong, had begun dating a “real famous actress” while she was in the midst of treatment for breast cancer in 2006, as reported by Page Six.

Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of Netflix’s “The Bobbycast,” hosted by Bobby Bones, the “All I Wanna Do” singer candidly revisited that difficult period of her life. “I was engaged, I had three beautiful stepchildren, I wanted to have kids with this person,” she said.

Crow shared that the breakup and her cancer diagnosis happened at almost the same time. “We split in the same week I got diagnosed with breast cancer, and I found out he was seeing a really famous actress,” she explained.

The musician, now 64, said she spent about nine months processing her emotions while undergoing treatment. “I went through about nine months of radiation and grieving and anger,” she recalled, though she never mentioned Armstrong by name in her comments.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

A representative for Armstrong, 54, did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment following her remarks.

Crow and Armstrong began dating in 2003, getting engaged two years later. Their relationship ended in February 2006, a split that coincided with her cancer diagnosis.

According to previously published accounts, the pair’s differing priorities regarding having children played a significant role in their breakup.

Armstrong detailed his version of their split in his 2009 autobiography “Lance: The Making of the World’s Greatest Champion.” In that book, quoted by Us Weekly, he wrote, “She wanted marriage, she wanted children.”

He continued, “Not that I didn’t want that, but I didn’t want that at that time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I’d just had kids,” referring to his previous marriage to Kristin Richard.

The former couple, who were married from 1998 to 2003, share three children — Luke, 17, and twins Grace and Isabelle, 15.

Armstrong acknowledged that timing was a major issue in his relationship with Crow, saying, “Yet we’re up against her biological clock — that pressure is what cracked it.”

After their separation, Armstrong eventually married Anna Hansen in 2022. The two began dating in 2008 and have two children together, Wyatt, 9, and Levi, 6.

Over the years, Armstrong was also linked to several well-known women, including “Real Housewives of Dallas” alum Cary Deuber in 2006, designer Tory Burch in 2007, and actress Kate Hudson in 2008, according to the New Zealand Herald.

Crow, meanwhile, started a new chapter of her life by building a family through adoption. She adopted her first son, Wyatt, in 2007 and welcomed her second son, Levi, in 2010.

The Grammy-winning singer later dated musician Doyle Bramhall II from 2011 to 2014, though she has not been publicly linked to anyone since.

Crow’s recent comments on “The Bobbycast” highlighted the emotional toll of balancing heartbreak, illness, and recovery — but also underscored her continued strength and independence since that pivotal year in her life.
