Socialist L.A. Mayoral Candidate Gets Completely Cooked Over ‘Big Accomplishment’ [WATCH]

Los Angeles City Hall has apparently lowered the bar for municipal achievement to street level.

Councilwoman Nithya Raman, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, drew widespread online ridicule after celebrating newly painted yellow crosswalk markings as a significant neighborhood infrastructure victory.

The project was originally raised by the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council late last year.

Months later, Raman posted photos of the completed work on X and praised her field team for continuing to seek solutions and make local streets safer.

The photos showed several bright yellow stripes painted across a visibly cracked roadway.

Rather than impressing residents and political observers, the presentation prompted questions about why such a basic city service took months to complete and deserved a glossy promotional rollout.

Richard Grenell, the Presidential Envoy for Special Missions during President Donald Trump’s second term, quickly mocked the low standard being celebrated.

“Dear Lord, Nithya. Your standards are so incredibly low,” Grenell wrote.

Grenell also pointed directly to the condition of the roadway beneath the fresh paint.

Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality television personality Spencer Pratt joined the pile on.

He ridiculed the project as little more than seven yellow stripes painted over damaged pavement after roughly nine months of bureaucratic waiting.

Pratt also questioned why Raman would highlight the project as a major accomplishment.

His reaction captured the central problem for City Hall, which is that residents expect functioning streets, basic maintenance, and competent management without a victory parade for every paint bucket.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro delivered his own verdict on the supposed infrastructure breakthrough.

“This is beyond parody,” he wrote before sarcastically describing the painted lines as a massive public works achievement.

Shapiro added, “Eight months to paint some yellow lines. Huge infrastructure victory! Make her mayor!”

The remark turned Raman’s announcement into another example of progressive government congratulating itself for completing the bare minimum.

Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo pushed the mockery even further.

“They’re calling it the most ambitious infrastructure project since the Golden Gate Bridge,” he wrote, comparing the neighborhood crosswalk rollout to one of America’s most famous engineering achievements.

Raman’s announcement was labeled “Improving Our Neighborhood Street Infrastructure” and featured photos showing the street before and after the work.

The grand language stood in sharp contrast to the modest visible result, especially since the underlying pavement remained cracked.

The post also left several basic questions unanswered.

Raman did not disclose the cost of the project, identify the city department responsible for the work, explain when physical construction began, or describe any safety improvements beyond the new painted markings.

Fox News Digital contacted Raman’s office and Pratt for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

That silence did little to slow the online reaction, as critics continued sharing the images and questioning the city’s priorities.

Los Angeles residents regularly confront damaged roads, homelessness, crime concerns, housing costs, and strained public services.

Against that backdrop, City Hall presenting several painted stripes as a notable governing success was bound to invite ridicule from taxpayers already wondering where their money goes.

The episode offered a revealing glimpse into the expectations surrounding progressive municipal government.
