Netflix faced an angry wave of subscription cancellations after its official UK and Ireland X account posted a joke about a neck injury on the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, as reported by Breitbart.

“Nearly did himself a neck injury,” the account wrote Thursday alongside a photo from The Gentlemen. The image showed a male character apparently straining his neck to get a better look at a woman.

The timing immediately drew attention because the post appeared on September 10, exactly one year after Kirk was fatally shot in the neck.

The Turning Point USA founder was speaking at Utah Valley University and trying to have an open and respectful dialogue with a student when he was assassinated.

Social media users flooded the comment section beneath the Netflix UK and Ireland post.

Many announced that they were canceling their subscriptions, while others shared screenshots that they said confirmed their memberships had ended.

Jack Posobiec, a conservative commentator and close friend of Kirk, issued a blunt demand in response to the post. “Cancel Netflix completely,” he wrote.

One X user shared a screenshot of an email from Netflix stating that his membership had been successfully canceled. His accompanying message was simply, “Bye.”

Another user indicated that she planned to switch streaming services, writing, “Hulu it is.” A third furious commenter declared, “Go to hell. Motherfuckers.”

The popular conservative X account Libs of TikTok said that her Netflix subscription was already gone. “I’m so glad I canceled my subscription. You guys are sick,” she wrote.

Actor Kevin Sorbo also criticized the company while describing a previous meeting with Netflix executives.

“Years ago Netflix brought me in to discuss doing faith-based films. At the end of our meeting, the executives looked at me and said, ‘We understand that there’s an audience for the kind of movies you make; we just don’t know why.’ These people are sick,” Sorbo disclosed.

Graham Allen joined the backlash with another harsh assessment. “The worst people!” he wrote, adding, “No wonder NETFLIX stock has TUMBLED!”

Another X user posted a screenshot that showed Netflix stock plummeting and wrote, “Keep going.”

A separate commenter shared a Netflix cancelation email and proclaimed, “You guys are sick, demented bastards, I’ve had enough.”

The condemnations continued as another person asked, “What the fuck is wrong with you people?”

One commenter predicted that the post would haunt the company, writing, “When your subscription service fails, this post will come back in millions of views to mock you.”

That user also offered a message for Kirk. “Bless you, Charlie. I am sorry these people are so cruel.”

Another reaction focused directly on the timing of the official account’s post. “Kind of actually insane for an official Netflix account to post this on the anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death,” the user wrote.

One commenter responded with four sharply worded descriptions, writing, “Disgusting. Vial. Pathetic. Evil.” Conservative commentator Mike Cernovich added, “This is the mainstream Democrat view,” followed by, “They are murderous.”

Another user urged anyone who still subscribed to take immediate action. “If you still have a Netflix account, now is the time to cancel,” the commenter advised, adding, “Do it for Charlie.”

Turning Point USA planned to return to Utah Valley University for its “Freedom Built to Last” memorial honoring Kirk.

The event was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MST at the UCCU Center on the UVU campus and was set to stream on the organization’s social media pages and the Breitbart News website.

Netflix later denied that its post had any connection to Kirk or the anniversary of his assassination. A company spokesperson provided a response to US Weekly addressing the mounting accusations.

“This post directly references a plot point from our UK series, The Gentlemen, which launched its second season on September 3. Suggestions that it has any link to sensitive real-world events are inaccurate and ludicrous.”
