Investigators said the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Vidal Cruz Jr. of Pacoima in northeastern Los Angeles, was driving a gray Acura when he struck a man and a woman who had just exited a parked Toyota Camry.

Authorities said the male victim, believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene. The female victim, described as being in her 50s, was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Following the initial collision, Cruz Jr.’s vehicle continued down the street, crashing into multiple parked cars before ultimately slamming into a home.

Officials said the vehicle struck three parked cars and then collided with a car in a driveway before crashing through the exterior wall of the residence.
Video footage captured during the incident shows the vehicle barreling into the parked cars and then into the home, leaving visible structural damage.
At the time of the crash, someone was inside the residence on the other side of the wall that was struck.
Residents described the aftermath as chaotic and difficult to process. Diego Rojas, who lives at the home that was hit, told ABC 7 that the suspect’s demeanor stood out immediately after the crash.

“He wasn’t as scared or as shocked as he should’ve been. That’s what I noticed,” Rojas said. “He was just trying to get out of his car as if nothing happened, but two people passed away.”
Another neighbor, Walter Morales, also spoke about the impact of the crash and the damage caused to property.
“It’s just crazy. I just got that car, and you would think that when you’re home, it’s the safest place you can have your stuff, but you never know when it’s your time and when bad things can occur,” Morales said.
“It’s just crazy to me, and I’m still processing it.”
Authorities said Cruz Jr. was taken into custody following the incident. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed he has been booked on two counts of murder. Bail was set at $4 million.
Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash or whether toxicology results have been completed. The case remains under investigation.
Officials said the incident underscores the dangers associated with impaired driving, particularly in residential areas where pedestrians and parked vehicles are present.
The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The crash resulted in both loss of life and significant property damage, as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the collision.
