First things first: I am not here to litigate the results of the 2020 election, and despite all the distractions and attempts to debunk President Trump’s speech last night, he never claimed to have proven that the 2020 election was stolen.
So all the (false) assertions that Trump’s claims have been “debunked” are irrelevant to what he said last night.
Trump laid out the facts, in his very Trumpian way, that the election system is vulnerable in many ways, that the Chinese exploited some of those vulnerabilities, and that the Intelligence Community conspired to hide that fact from the president and his circle before the election.

He delivered the goods. While I have not gone through all the declassified documents yet, it’s all there in black and white in the ones I have read. “I feel like I am running a shadow government,” one official said. We “massaged” the intelligence, another said. The CIA struck a line from a briefing stating that China wanted to help Biden win, and replaced it with a claim that it was indifferent to who won.

HERRIDGE: “So in the summer of 2020, as we’re heading into the election, in the intelligence community, there were indicators of this Chinese influence operation.”
“Influence operations means that you’re trying to affect the outcome of how people vote or their sentiment about a presidential candidate.”
“It’s different than an interference operation, which is penetrating voting rolls and voter systems.”
“And this whistleblower was raising the alarm about the influence operation and then suddenly it all was suppressed.”
“My understanding is that some of their reports, there were in officials on hand writing that they wanted everything out could help President Trump in his re-election.”
“So there clear evidence of political and personal bias, and intelligence is supposed to be neutral.”
“So what we heard tonight from the president is an allegation that this intelligence was suppressed in order harm him. And now we’re seeing documents already which back those claims.”
Case closed, in my book. He made claims; those claims are backed up. Most criticisms of the speech respond to something he never said. It’s sophistry.

But what drives me NUTS is when all these Democrats and their defenders get on their high horse and say that Trump is destroying democracy by sowing doubt in elections.

It’s what they do every day, all day, whenever they dislike an outcome.
Hillary Clinton, to this day, claims the 2016 election was stolen from her. Stacey Abrams became a HERO for Democrats by pounding on the idea that the Georgia gubernatorial election was stolen from her. For years Democrats talked about Russians “hacking” the 2016 elections, and kept that them up until Trump lost in 2020, and suddenly challenging the results of an election was beyond the pale and disqualifying.

Democrats turn on a dime, do pirouettes, and engage in intellectual yoga whenever the subject of elections comes up. On the one hand, Republicans are rigging elections, implementing “Jim Crow 2.0,” suppressing votes, rigging the rules, and whatever else, and on the other hand, our elections are the most secure in human history, perfectly run, fraud never happens, and any election security measure, including striking illegal aliens and dead people off ballots, is voter suppression.

And Pravda amplifies the nonsense and attacks anybody who questions even the most obvious vulnerabilities to our elections.

Our election system is, if anything, less secure and less watched over than our welfare systems, and look at what happens when you turn over the rocks and start digging there.
Hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud. Committed out in the open. Government officials certainly knew, denied it, covered it up, and it took years until the evidence became so overwhelming that it broke out into the public.
And Tim Walz here in Minnesota still sometimes claims that it is a myth.
Our local paper barely acknowledges that the fraud happened here. They still treat Walz as a credible governor, not a co-conspirator in the largest fraud scheme in Minnesota history. Keith Ellison is still our Attorney General, and will still get the endorsement of the paper this November.

Despite being on this Earth more than 60 years now, I still get infuriated when I see people who are supposed to be arbiters of the truth and what counts as reliable information actively distort it for their own purposes. The media acts as advocates for candidates and causes they like, and attack dogs on those they dislike. All in the guise of being arbiters of truth and justice.
Of all the threats to our democracy, as they put it, the Pravda Media is by far the largest these days.
