Greg Kelly says a civilian resistance movement inside Iran could play a major role in weakening the country’s government, pointing to reports that members of the People’s Freedom Fighters Front have targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel, including senior commanders.

Kelly described what he believes is an expanding resistance effort by Iranians opposed to the current regime.

“We are looking at what we believe is an Iranian resistance effort by civilians taking out IRGC targets,” Kelly said.

“Yep. A group, let’s put that up, the People’s Islamic Resistance Front. Okay, the People’s Freedom Fighters Front killed dozens of IRGC terrorists, including two senior commanders.”

Kelly said the activity reflects something President Donald Trump and others have encouraged, adding that assistance has been flowing to Iranian opposition forces.

“This is what President Trump and a lot of other people have been calling for, and covertly, money, arms, all kinds of things have been going to Iranian freedom fighters, and this could this could topple the regime,” Kelly said.

“President Trump said out loud what he wanted to happen.”

Trump, in the clip highlighted by Kelly, directly addressed the Iranian people and called on them to take control of their government after military operations conclude.

“Finally, to the great proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand,” Trump said.

“Stay sheltered, don’t leave your home, it’s very dangerous outside, bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take.”

Trump characterized the moment as a potentially rare opportunity for Iranians seeking political change.

“This will be, probably, your only chance for generations,” Trump said.

“For many years you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight.”

Trump concluded by placing responsibility for the next move on the Iranian people.

“Now you have a president who is giving you what you want. So let’s see how you respond,” Trump said.

Kelly said Trump had openly called for a change in Iran but never suggested the conflict would be resolved immediately.

“Okay. He called for it. Never promised the war was going to be over in 10 minutes, by the way, contrary,” Kelly said.

He argued that many Iranians are tired of living under the current system and contrasted modern Iran with the country’s past.

“So, the people in Iran are kind of sick of living this way, and they haven’t always lived this way,” Kelly said.

“Persia, right? Persians, sophisticated people before the Shah of Iran left, and the Ayatollah came in there.”

Kelly also sought to put the duration and casualties of the current conflict into perspective by comparing it with previous American wars.

“We’ve been at actual combat for 58 days. How many people have we lost? It’s unfortunate, very unfortunate, tragic, you could say, about 18, under 20,” Kelly said.

“Let’s be real here. This number is manageable.”

He contrasted that figure with the length of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Anybody remember the Iraq War? No weapons of mass destruction, went on for 8 years. What the hell did we get out of that?” Kelly said.

“How about the war in Afghanistan? Went on for 20 years. What did we get out of that? The Taliban is back in control.”

Kelly also mentioned Vietnam while questioning whether previous conflicts produced results that justified their costs.

“Vietnam, all right? Now, I mean, was that the best use of our time, money, lives, hm?” he said.

By comparison, Kelly argued that the current operation has produced significant results so far.

“So, I think we’re kind of coming out ahead big time so far,” Kelly said.

He pointed specifically to Iran’s nuclear capabilities, saying that if the country has been denuclearized, a longstanding American objective may have been achieved.

“If Iran has been denuclearized, and it looks like it has, and every president since George W. Bush has vowed that they’ll never get a nuclear weapon,” Kelly said.

Kelly also pointed to fuel prices, arguing that concerns about the conflict producing soaring costs have not materialized to the extent critics suggested.

“And now we know, and gas prices are actually not as high as they were under Joe Biden,” Kelly said.

“That goes for regular gas, diesel gas, and the rest.”

Kelly concluded by warning Trump supporters not to become discouraged by negative coverage of the conflict, describing some of it as part of an effort to weaken political support.

“It’s an information operations campaign meant to demoralize MAGA. Don’t fall for it,” Kelly said.
