Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez Reunite for Strikingly Rare ‘Young Guns’ Picture

Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez came together for a rare photo as the brothers reunited with several fellow cast members from “Young Guns.”

The gathering took place 38 years after the hit Western was released in 1988, as reported by Page Six.

Sheen, 61, and Estevez, 64, attended Fan Expo in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday. Their appearance placed the famous siblings alongside several familiar faces from the movie.

Lou Diamond Phillips shared a photo from the reunion on social media.

The picture featured Phillips with Sheen, Estevez, Casey Siemaszko, Kiefer Sutherland and Dermot Mulroney.

Phillips gave the cast snapshot an emphatic caption, writing, “F’ing Epic!” The response from fans reflected the excitement surrounding the rare gathering of the movie’s stars.

“SNL” star Kenan Thompson was among those who celebrated the reunion online. He expressed his enthusiasm by leaving fire emojis in the comments on Phillips’ post.

“Young Guns” was a Western that fictionalized the story of real-life outlaw Billy the Kid, with Estevez playing the central figure.

The movie earned $56 million after being made with an $11 million budget.

Its performance led to a sequel in 1990, but Sheen did not appear in the second movie. His character had been killed in “Young Guns,” preventing him from continuing in the follow-up.

The reunion also came after Sheen spoke candidly about watching his brother achieve success before he found his own breakthrough.

During an October 2025 appearance on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast, Sheen said he felt “awful” about Estevez’s ‘80s success as a member of the “Brat Pack.”

At that point, Sheen had not yet secured the breakout roles that arrived with “Platoon” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” both released in 1986.

Estevez had already risen to fame through 1983’s “The Outsiders” and 1985’s “The Breakfast Club.”

“I felt like I was just taking up the rear. I felt like a valet on certain nights,” Sheen said while discussing that period.

His remarks offered a glimpse at how he viewed the contrast between their careers at the time.

Estevez and their father, Martin Sheen, 86, did not participate in Sheen’s 2025 Netflix documentary “aka Charlie Sheen.”

The documentary covered Sheen’s struggles with addiction and his public downfall.

Director Andrew Renzi later said their absence was not the result of bad blood within the family.

“They are fully supportive of it and love it. They are all very close,” Renzi told Tudum in November 2025.

“Young Guns” remains one of the rare projects on which the brothers worked together.

They also starred together in the 1999 Showtime movie “Rated X,” while Estevez made a cameo on “Two and a Half Men.”

That cameo appeared in the Season 6 episode “The Devil’s Lube,” which aired in 2008.

Their limited collection of shared projects has continued to generate questions about whether they might collaborate again.

During a joint Interview Magazine conversation in September 2025, Estevez acknowledged that people frequently ask about another shared project.

“Have we already ticked that box?” he asked, prompting Sheen to respond, “That’s a great question,” without providing an answer.

Estevez announced in January 2025 that he would direct and star in “Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive.” He also joked that the movie should instead be called “Old Guns.”

At the time of that announcement, Estevez said Lou Diamond Phillips and Christian Slater would also star.

Sheen later joked to Interview Magazine that he died “on page 52” of the original movie.

Estevez answered, “Right. It’d be hard to bring you back for part three.”

He has not offered additional updates about the status of a third “Young Guns” movie, leaving the Dallas reunion as the cast’s latest memorable moment together.
